Yeh that is the drawing I was referring to earlier. I have the exact same one although interestingly the big end diameter on mine is shown as 50mm...perhaps there was a variation over the years?

He modified the stock rods to full floating ($100US) and I tell you people where reving thier 7ages to 9K with no problems. Modify the stock rod and JP's point of machining the rods to accept Arp bolts and nuts makes for a reliable 7a project in my opinion. One given from experience as our 7agze is on the road with 7a rods.

Can we put some evidence forward on this? I'm trying not to sound cynical, but that is the equivalent of a 10,000RPM 4AGE on modified factory hardware- and, if there is evidence available, blows many of the accepted limits out of the water. I'd love to bring the 4AGE out that far without spending serious dough on Formula Atlantic hardware.

    cheers

Club4ag has a new data base, but you can do a search on that forum or post questions with regard to 7ag's as I am sure some old timers will surface. There are guys now attempting 2.0 7ag's using 2zz rods, 7a block, 1zz crank modified, with ca18det pistons. I have not heard of one running yet, but I am awaiting the results as it does sound promising.

Over the years there has been alot of 7a rumors, usually passed on from those that are not running them. The people over the years that I know of have run them, only one guy down talked it for spinning several bearings on a dyno run. They do need to be built properly to last

    Just a heads up.

It may be cheaper to just have the Conrod "Big End" Caps shaved and then re-bored off-centre to account for the difference in Rod length instead of ground Offsetting the Crankshaft.

Also on the subject of 7A's.

Can anyone confirm that some late model 7A blocks come with oil squirters?

The one I have doesn't for sure, but read somewhere that some late one's did?

why add another weakness to the rods, offset grinding of the crank isnt going to weaken it any more but boring the rods will, and if money was a concern why are we building engines?
    2T out 4A in....

    4A out 3VZ in. 3vzfe rebuild, RWD-ising, and conversion for ta22

Offsetting the Centre on the Big-End of a conrod by 1-3mm will not weaken the Conrods ability to sustain compression & twisting.

If money is a concern, why don't Users just get custom Conrods made by Pauter ?

Just putting the information out there, some users may only want to do a budget build for moderate power.

    Australian Made.

A lot of the VL sub 10 sec pro guys have had issues with them though, but that's pushing 700+ HP so should be fine for most on here.

Pauter have an extra $200US Option where they can drill through the beam on the Conrod to essentially make an Oil Squirter at the top of the Small End on the Conrods. I like this feature better then the conventional Oil Squirters positoned at the Bottom off the Block for obvious reasons.

Would you prefer having an Oil Squirter directly under the centre of the Piston operating under its Full rotation or an Oil Squirter at the bottom of the Block aiming the Piston underside at a FIXED ANGLE, most probably only getting about 20% at best coverage ?
