Looks good mate, post up the stock one for comparison
Looks like you've got hungry while driving and decided to have a gnaw of your steering wheel![]()
Well the Hilux dash crumbled apart in my hands and it was a crappy looking thing so I tried an Excel dash but it didn't fit/look any good. Got an AE92 dash from the local wrecker and it seems to fit pretty good.
I trimmed about 8mm off either side of the dash and machined off the mounting lugs for the ducting. On the car I bent the cluster mounts down to allow the dash to slide in.
As it sits now it is a bit deep so I am going to machine an inch or so off the front facing surface to get the dash "in" a bit more.
Oh and don't bag my MOMO wheel

Don't have any pics of standard as it was in bits
Gonna try to spend an hour or two on it tomoro and see if I can get it to fit a bit better
Trimmed an inch and a half off the front of the dash and played around with it a bit. Fits really goodly. Going to make up the mounts tomoro and start figuring out what can go where. Ignition switch clearance looks like being the biggest issue

This is a very interesting project. I went out to Pick 'n' Payless and looked at AE92 dashes and I certainly wouldn't mind fitting one to my RN85R. Especially if you can get the dash to work eg. speedo, tacho, etc.
More pics if you can, especially of the areas you are trimming, and how you're doing that? eg angle grinder?
What should we expect to pay for an AE92 dash (given that there's lots of them at the wreckers) as a ballpark figure? $50, $100.
What other bits should we grab as well?
Cheers,
Peter

I cut it with a metal cutting disc'd 4 inch angle grinder. I still need to trim a bit more off and I'll just use a grinding disc. Dunno much about guages for your setup as I will either be running a acewell or a microtec dash and a MTB speedo
I didn't pay anything for the dash as I have a sponsor of sorts. I wouldn't imagine paying more than 80 bucks for it tho
Got the top mounts done and should be able to finish the bottom tomoro as they will only be L brackets. If someone was doing this conversion on their Hilux, you might wanna have a little look at where the column might sit as I think it is 1/2 inch out. With standard cluster you would notice it but Im not using one of those.

I ended up dropping the column 10mm to give some more room for the top mounted ignition switch.
