Trying to pull some engine codes out of my gf's mums car.. but I am not sure which terminals to bridge in the diagnostics panel.
Symptoms, it turns over, there seems to be electrics going through the injectors + spark leads (tested them all with a multimeter), but wont fire. Ideas?
Its a VZ series Camry. 1994 or 95 i think...? 3VZFE.

hmmm thats what i did and the engine light kept flashing and didnt stop... it was going well past 150 flashes before i stopped and went 'does it really flash that many times?

If it just keeps flashing, thats the code for - No codes. So you havent got a ECU recorded fault.
First thing id do on GF's mums car is pull the air filter out... You may be surprised. If not;
Test spark by pulling a lead off and witnessing spark jump to head - which it sounds like you've done.
How have you tested injectors? They have constant power when Ig is on, and it is not definitive to tell if they are injecting fuel by just checking power to them.
I would suggest testing fuel pressure. If you dont have a gauge you can do it crudely by pulling off the fuel return line after the FPR (fuel pressure reg). Then crank the engine with something to collect the fuel that should flow from the return. This will tell you that you have a good working pump, & filter/lines are not blocked... It does not rule out that your FPR might be stuffed but i have never (EDIT: once in a r31 skyline) had one fail yet.

afaik, you can test the injectors by pushing the AFM flap in with the ignition on, they will start squirting.
you def need to witness a spark, it could be the dizzy, coil, igniter or the wiring for those.

those widebody camrys do a lot of ignition problems as well i've done many a dizzy, idle control, TPS, coil, ignitor, lead etc for them... they become apparent anything around150,000 kms onwards... good luck with it, my money's items i've mentionedOriginally Posted by Jaemus

well believe it or not i tried getting to them.. that was one of my first guesses coz it cranks over, i can smell fuel being injected.. but gf's dad is an arrogant shit. hes like 'theyre only new.. its not the spark plugs'. and didn't want to hear anything differently... and thinking hes Mr Mechanic pulls off the cam cover to look at the timing belt..with me sitting there in the background shaking my head going, u idiot..
i tested the injectors, well the front 3 anyway, they all had 12+v going through them.
i gave up. its like trying to communicate with a brick wall, especially when mr stubborn just has to re-enforce his position as the man of the house being a know it all. i asked him to pull a plug out for me to test.. he stomped his feet in a tantrum and said 'thats not the problem'
they can fix it themselves now as far as im concerned. guess hes just afraid id outdo him at something..

sit blade end on injector then blunt end on yr ear
crank engine see if u hear clicking if so then u have fuel
or u can buy some aerostart and see if it runs on it
then remove a spark plug lead and test for spark
its only a small zapp so dont be a wuss

even if the plugs are caked up, it's highly unlikely all 6 are so fucked they wouldn't work... still i'd check for spark to eliminate this fault..
pretty sure it takes an asian know-it-all to convince an asian know-it-all dad.. but that's just me... i have trouble convincing the typical bloke my point of view sometimes..
