On Topic - Stick with 4.5L six and turbocharge. MS-75's results speak for themselves.
4L 8 vs 4L 6.
the 8 will have 1 more power stroke per revolution, 4.
the 6 will have 1 less power stroke per revolution, 3.
but.. the size of the power stroke of the 8 cylinder will be smaller.
regardless of number of cylinders, the torque output will be basically the same (if the design is same and only number of cylinders is changed.. yeah a stretch i know)
say.. 400Nm... for an 8, thats 50Nm per pot. for a 6, thats 67Nm/pot.
whislt you may have a point if you said a 4L 1 cylinder vs an 8 cylinder... 6 vs 8 is not much difference.
4cyl bikes? so they can have shorter strokes and more revsyes it is also to do with smoothing things out.. but there is a big difference between 1 power stroke per revolution and 2... there is not so big a difference between 3 and 4 (even between 2 and 4, since car engines have flywheels)

I am agreeing with all. 1uz's in 1500kg cars are slugs if you ask me. Putting them in 2000kg cars with no FI is a waste of time. I couldn't spend all that money to make the car basically the same just for a different exhaust note.
Precisely. And if you really really wanted the exhaust note you could at least put a bigger engine in there, I hate to say it but the LS1 would be the obvious choice. 1UZ is going backwards.Originally Posted by chris davey

This has turned into quite a funny thread and i feel partly resposible... All good points and thanks for all the imput.. Im thinking now that we should leave it alone and get a better car, lol.. All that argument for nothing.. I Agree that the 1UZ is a bit of a back step when talking cubes but it would be so cool but like Chris Davey said not worth it for the money..
I think getting a turbo deisel one and tuning it would be fun.. Might go down that road..
Thanks again for all the imput and sorry starting such a stir..
Thanks,
Pisso.
You mean turbo diesel Chev or turbo diesel Landcruiser engine? Old school 1HZ = pile of crap, 1HD = good thing.Originally Posted by pisso001
Also, I probably wouldn't bother with an LS1 either - due to their head design, intakes, etc. then they don't have the truck qualities of the old school 350's at all.
However, why not put in a 'mans' engine?

Yea i recon considering its dads car and hes fairly boring it will end up being left as is.. But its been good learning a bit and had a bit of entertainment out of this thread..
Thanks,

The Landcruiser auto transmission (A442F) being a 4 speed with lock up came in both an electronic model and a non-electronic version. The non-electronic version was only run for 18 months and is probably the one to use if you were to do an engine change. With a valve body kit they are good for plenty of torque.
When I went to pick up the 1FZ I briefly considered using the cruiser trans as well-until I saw that was nearly as big as the motor itself!!! It makes a Getrag look like a powerglide!!!

If the 1FZ in it is flogged out, you and your dad could save big $$ but pulling it out and co-ordinating the recon yourself. Youll learn a bunch just by doing that-and get a lot of satisfaction out of it. There are enough guys on here who can purchase parts at cost one way or another-including getting the 1FZ workshop manual (I have it-it's very good).Originally Posted by pisso001
