Its a very common upgrade, but you should do research and at least know whats involved / costs. You can potentially save more money by saving.
On a High Level things you will need (you can research based on that)
> Engine
> Electrical Wiring (driving pump and efi system)
> EFI Fuel system of some sort
> Clutch slave & line work
> Exhaust
> Labour
You may need a bit more depending on the package you get. eg. if its a FWD engine, a electric thermo.
Are RWD engines generally more expensive that FWD?
I havent seen many RWD ready engines for sale at all
yes they are cause they are hard to find
if u do get a fwd then u need to mod the manifold
and the fwd wurung needs to be modded too

What are the chances my air conditioning will still work after the mod?
What is needed on the new engine and will it be a bitch of a job?
If you choose an ae82 4age you will need these to wire it up:

EFI prepump install to your non efi tank:

note: you will also need an external surge tank and fuel pump e.g. vl commonwhore type.

Forgive me for my noobish question, but i was wondering if its essentual to change the fuel lines? i know theres about 2mm differance in size (adm to jdm) but have u guys got away with it?
Change the rubber ones to efi type but you can leave the solid ones as they are. I swapped them around a bit from what they are originally used for, the carby fuel feed became the 4age return, the charcoal line became the feed and the fuel return became the charcoal. This was to do with the size of the line and where they came out in the engine bay, it'll become pretty apparent to you when you do the swap.
You'll only need to change the fuel lines if you want to make more power out of the 4age, I'm pretty sure it has been discussed elsewhere.

and to all the disbelievers about the belt, it is still fine, even after being daily driven, and many mototkhanas and autocrosses![]()
biggest problem is RWD intake and exhaust.
once ya got them, your laughing.
from memory, the FWD loom needs 3 wires extended to work in RWD form.
the BEST thing to do is to buy a corolla thats been written off, accident in the back is best.
that way you get fuel pump (if tank is still in one peice) wiring, engine, etc. etc.
what you dont use off the wrecked car, you can sell.
