I used this one on the 2jzgte and worked perfectly... I still retain it now as part of my TPS/low rev limit circuit fix...![]()
Well most would not know this yet - but Jaycar has a new kit....
Yes, we now have a Fuel Cut Defender, for just $20.

I want to be absolutely certain on the way it functions and that it's fully suitable for 1JZ's, so if someone is willing to donate their car for testing this kit out, i'd really appreciate it.
I dont want to take your car - just get you to fit the kit and see if it works as good as it sounds.
If it does, this is a bloody cheap option for you 1J boys.

That seems to be the same or similar circuit to the kit Jaycar has released.... which is a good thing.

On a side note I've found it needs to be set at 4.3Volts(for the 2jzgte)... at 4.32Volts I would still occassionally hit the Boost cut.

If I had a car with no boost cut I would trial it for you![]()
still waiting for someone to make up a frequency limiting circuit for the karmen vortex variety of afms
Not a bad idea... i'll pitch the idea to Silicon Chip.Originally Posted by ViPeR_NiPPleX

I have been wondering this same question myself, but in conjunction with another question regarding the "Digital Fuel Adjuster". They can be purchased for $80 from Jaycar plus a multi use hand controller for another $60. There is a good description on AutoSpeed.
Will the DFA do the same thing as the Fuel Cut Defender, with the benifit being that it will also allow you play with the mixtures across the full load range? I would like to try one of these DFAs but I think it would be a bit clumsy having to have it connected in series with a FCD.
I am hoping there are a few load points that could do with a small adjustment to improve the running of the 2JZGTE I have it in mind for.
Any ideas, anyone?
If you want to test it on a 1G-GTEU i'll lend you mine, on the proviso that I get to keep it if it works![]()
tell me witzl, have you tested this on a 1J powered car yet? I am about to put a boost conrtoller on mine and try to make 1bar out of her, i think this is above standard boost cut.
so i may be needing a FCD and was thinking about the jaycar one. any results if you have tested or are you still looking for a test vehicle?

well, sorry for the late reply, but since you never got an answer, i just fitted one of these jaycar FCD's to my jza70, and she didn't hit boost cut.
i just wound her out to 14.5psi and no cut, normally on my guage it would cut right on 14psi.
so the jaycar FCD does work on a 1JZ powered vehicle

How'd the pitching of this idea to Silicon Chip go Witzle?Originally Posted by ViPeR_NiPPleX

I can't remember what piece it is that you need, but it's quite easy to make your own FCD for about $2, if you're good with solder, and can do a few calcs and know the voltage you want to keep it at.
Does it also say it cuts it at 3.9Volts? That's a fair cry below what Toyota have theres cut at, and can be a whole heap of air... I hope it IS adjustable...
Oh, and there's also a spelling mistake in the ad...
