    I know this sounds stupid, but in my ae92 sx 20v, the lead between the coil and the distributor was getting streched (I put it into the clip thingy on top of the AFM) and i was getting annoying intermittent problems. When the engine mounts flexed the lead was strained and not transmitting spark.

    Sounds stupid but it happened to me and can be hard to spot.

    i am very sus on that lead in my car, Finney is sending me his old set of leads so i can try them out on the car, and see if perhaps it is this lead,
    it gave me a massive shock the other day as well.. brushed it when iwas trying to discover if the lead was loose or what not..
    What is autosalon? Sounds kinda homo.

    Yeah, the tell-tale sign for me was a 2 inch arc from the middle of the lead to the AFM when it wouldn't start one day : )

    I've just taped it up for the moment and am waiting on a set of new leads, although they're bloody dear at 125$ a set

    i dont believein testing ecus on the bench as i cant see how they can check every single thing

    try find another 20v car and plug yr ecu into it and drive it

    I'd be checking all ignition components. Test resistance across all the leads to see if the fall between Toyota specs. Trial spare set of leads "mentioned above" Check Ignitor resistance. Then I would inspect the distributor air gap. Also check the rotor button to see if its cracked. This made my car have the same symtoms and took forever to figure out that it was the rotor button. Huge split in the plastic was arcing down back through itself.

    well boys and girls...
    the verdict iis in...
    DRUMMROLLLLLLL




    we have :
    1 X Buggered TPS.
    1 X Slipping alternator belt.
    1 X buggered starter motor.
    1 X incorrect placing of vaccum tubes from TBs, was only running vaccum of cylinder 4 apparently, and making car run poorly, must of been whoever did the conversion id say.

    TPS, is 190$ only made genuine

    Jeez, thats alot of things wrong, bet you glad that its all running again tho apart from the wallet.

    its still at mechanics, they have ordered the TPS so hopefully its here morrow..has to come from sydney
    it seems a list, but the only major thing is the TPS, and i guess the starter, but ill deal with the starter another time lol damn uni budget
    though at least if anyone experiences these symptoms and couldnt figure out the problem they can look into the TPS being the culprit id say...
    he said my TPS isnt opening up properly cos of age, and is causing the injectors to turn of.
