Am I correct that in thinking I can buy an R154 box inc bellhousing (probably through an importer) and simply bolt this up the the 2J using the clutch/pressure plate/fly wheel set up from the 1J. I understand that I will have to ensure the nissan hydraulic resavour is adequate for the the toyota slave.
Also how good is the V160? I will use the car for drag work and steet drag meets so it will see plenty of load and shock.

cheers for all the info thus far

Yes, if you use an R154 plus flywheel and pressure plate from a 1JZ it will bolt up to a 2JZ.

The V160 is probably one of the strongest gearboxes in any production car. There are full-weight Supras in the US running 8's with this box.

My Nissan speedo in my R31 worked fine with the 2JZ speed sensor (the 3 wire sensor), it was out by heaps so I used jaycar speedo correctors. The tacho worked fine right away with no stuffing around.

Farking massive. Below is a pic I took of my V160 compared to a W58, which is slightly smaller than an R154. Note the width towards the rear of the box, this is what gave me dramas when doing the conversion.

    Thats a huge bitch!
Good to hear about the nissan compatability, most of the S13 and 31 wiring is very similar.
What sort of money should i look at for an R154?
Can anyone help me with my management questions? Can i fit the single and injectors on standard 2J (aristo) management?
