Mine was a custom made muffler $$$ but seems to do the trick. Removed the resonator and just ran twin 2.5in pipes under the diff. That helped to quiten it right down.Originally Posted by 7MA61

I have a no name offset 3" muffler. It is very large. With stock turbos my car wasn't any louder than a stock corona. With the single turbo setup it still is as loud as a normal corona (until you boot it).
Setup is: 3" dump pipe, decat, muffler. Don't know why it is so quiet.
Even if I take the muffler completely off it isn't overly loud though. Not anywhere near as noisy as street v8's that I was racing at Willowbank.
I have heard very good things about Hooker mufflers also. I think they are pricey though.
I have a Lukey Turbo Muffler, 3" in 3" out. And its nice and quiet.

Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers are good. I can also do them for around $160 delivered at the moment. They do a 3" in centre/centre or offset in/ centre out.
Hooker are made/distributed by Holley.
What muffler flows better from Lukey? The race or the ultra flow?

i'm going with the ultra flow.... it's straight through and when i got it, i thought it was a center muffler piece...![]()

I've actually been thinking about the Hooker Aero mufflers the last few days - the only pic I have though is the one in the Rocket catalogue. Are they well made? Do they flow as much as any straight through - I ask because a lot of old school muscle car mufflers don't exactly put flow as a priority. Also, do they actually muffle well, and sound nice (like they claim!)?
Those Hooker Aero Chamber jobbies seem to have the right sales pitch anywayAll seems good in theory! I'd like to see some CFM figures though cause I just can't get my head around how they can flow so well with the direction changes.
David vizard wrote a really good article on mufflers, with the emphasis on minimal restriction, if i recall correctly, he was saying that a straight through isn;t necassarily good.

pretty heavily aimed at V8s, but a good read.

I purchased & fitted one yesterday to my car, They seem to be a very good quality build. Can't say much for the ability to cut noise or unwanted frequencies though, it sounds the same as my $80 Redback 3" mufflerOriginally Posted by mrshin
has a very deep boomy note.
did it make it sound cooler? any difference in power?
are you running a resonator? maybeye a hotdog would cut some of the boom, then again, its largely guesswork where to put it.
What did it cost? I'd rather tempted to stick to the redback ones if the Holley ones aren't any quieter.Originally Posted by 1JZ-Rolla
