Hey guys,
Just looking for some advice regarding a conversion I am looking at. To meet CAMS regulations I cant run a 20v but the car currently has one installed. So I need to change the head to a 16v one. Which from looking at this forum would not be a problem. Can someone confirm this for me.
I am wondering if there is a need to change any wiring to make the new head fit and run properly? The car is currently running autronics and has the 20v head. I would be looking to fit a 16v head to it, but keep the quads on it, but getting the adaptor plate to fit them to the new head and still using the autronics computer. Is there anything else I would need to think about or deal with?
Cheers
i think the easiest situation is going to be changing the whole engine and loom/harness
reason being the 20v has what i call "one fit wonder" plugs one plug fits only one place, whereas the 16v looms (AFIAK) had colour coded plugs.
also the 16v and 20v cylinder design is different (duuuurrrr one has 4 more valves) the pistons are flycut differently not really an issue unless you plan on snapping a timing beltcos we all plan when thats gonna happen dont we?
what car is this in?
