I did this morning and they said they will call me back in half an hour...am still waiting!

And I think you are right, the first post may not be correct as there is more than just connecting 3 wires.

Pin 1,4 and 6 cables may need to be joined together and 7 and 8 too....but am not sure!

Call them back? unfortunately their customer service can be lacking sometimes

Unfortunately it looks like it might be a proprietary protocol/connection so you might need to for out the dollars.

Did some googleing and found this http://www.mail-archive.com/memberso.../msg43745.html
    pin 1 on the 15 pin =nc
    pin2 on the 15 pin =nc
    pin3 on the 15 pin=nc
pin4 on the 15 pin goes to pin 13 on the 25 pin connector
    pin5 on the 15 pin =nc
    pin6 on the 15 pin =nc
    pin7 on the 15 pin =nc
    pin8 on the 15 pin=nc
    pin9 on the 15 pin=nc
pin 10 on the 15 pin goes to pins 18 and 19 on the 25 pin connector
    pin 11 on the 15 pin=nc
    pin 12 on the 15 pin =nc
    pin13 on the 15 pin=nc
    pin 14 on the 15 pin =nc
    pin15 on the 15 pin=nc
the components in th e 25 pin connector would show different readings between the pins on the 25 pin end only.

Thanks m8, I ordered the cable and it should be here tomorrow!

Robbie from Wolf did finally return my call and said the problem may be the cable and to call him after testing with the new cable!

And thanks for the pin out but that is for a 25 pin plug....I think everyone is going from the 15 (vga) to 9 (serial)....

I can now confirm that the pinout as per the first post are incorrect.

I have bought the Serial to VGA cable direct from Wolf and the Laptop connects to the ECU without an issue.

I had to also buy the Serial to USB adaptor from Wolf as well cos my adapter for some reason did not work that well.

Wolf's serial to usb adapter has a chip which does some sort of a buffer thus the reason that adaptor works best.

I have to say the cable and adaptor are expensive and Wolf 3D should consider some discounting as they seem to be O.T.T.....

Their cables are a rip off, its a simple serial cable with a monitor end attached, you can make your own with $10 worth of stuff from ebay. I was skeptical about their serial to USB adapter also, so i bought an ebay one and dont have any issues with it.

Maybe they dont sell many ecu's, so they have to have a 5000% mark up on their cables!

I also have the latest version of their software, I obviously cant go handing it out becuase that would be illegal, but feel free to PM me and I may "lend" it to you.

    LOL...M8, I feel the same!

Thou I wish I knew you had the software b4...I ended up buying the software off them! I could have borrowed it and paid you something rather than....

And "OnallFour", the 3D v4 software is not on their website...the software is for the V4X...

I just spent an hour or so getting a Serial to USB connection to work on a different ECU, for anyone who has any issues, i had to go to control panel > device manager > USB to Serial and then set the buffer to zero (or 1 which was the lowest in my case), then ensure that the comm port is set on the same as the ECU (comm port 3 seemed to work for me). I also had to restart the ECU software but eventually it worked.
