rb25det with forgies, highflow turbo, gtr injectors + rising rate fuel reg.
The previous owner spent $1200 on dyno time and it still doesnt idle properly or start well when cold, its just hard to tune. Nistune is far superior.
really depends on the motor,eg. my 1g has no problems...perfect idle, better economy than anything ive ever owned and 330 rwhp from an old dieing hks GT2540. what engine are u trying to tune dude?

yeah fair enuff ive never had any real exp fiddling with many rb series motors..having only really owned toyotas or toyota powered cars...dunno mate pull the ecu out, flog it off on ebay and get yourself the latest microleb..apparently its supposed to be a pretty awesome bit of kit.
An ECU with 6 injector drivers will ALWAYS give a better result if you have a proper tuner than batch mode injection with 3 drivers for a 6 cyl motor.
I'm pretty sceptical of most aftermarket ECUs as a lot of them look good on paper but have crap software, I think I am going to stick with nistune (basically factory ECU with real time tracing and tuneing) and make my own daughterboard for auxiliary IO and boost control.
Anyway cheers for the replies, will just accept that the wolf is poo and doesn't want to connect.
They stopped building the V4 in 1998 so I dont think anyone really uses them anymore, they are crap hardware and software. The newer V500s are far better, still hard to tune, but once you get it done you can get a pretty awesome result from what Ive heard.
I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.
Same here. had the wolf running for quite a few months now.
i built my 3SGE map from scratch with next to no knowledge. starts runs and stops when i need it to.
As to tuning its the most simple bit off kit that i have come across. everything is well laid out and you dont need a phd to understand what most of the options menus do. Thats my opinion anyway.
never had any connection problems even with my ebay serial/usb converter or my home botched cable.
the only issue i have come across is excess noise coming from the CAS but that probly my wiring.

What else have you used though mikie?
i have played with autronic, haltec, motec, microtec, link and g-reddy software when i was looking for an aftermarket comp.
i have used microtec an haltec to tune/change a few bits for friends. Out of that list the only other one that i find usable is the motec.
once again just my 2c.

Yeah motecs are great from what I've heard, the rest Ive heard terrible reports, although I can't talk personally. Always good to hear from others though.
No way in hell that cable was ever going to work, put it on the scope and saw basically nothing even trying to send.
I ended up selling the piece of crap ECU and getting something decent with 6 injector drivers.
