Research has shown child in front seat causes accidents, accident in back seat causes child
bah!!! thanks i was suspecting that.......... just didn't want to hear it![]()
umm...its not just sloshing around and the pump not getting any is it?
i wouldnt be surprised if the super dodgy daihatsu (bless you) doesnt have in-tank baffles....

sounds like fuel starvation, check the continuity on the wires going to the pump, does it do this when the tank is full ? have you checked the fuel filters also ? Dave

fill the tank and see if the problem is still there, if not then there is a good chance its not fuel starvation. If it still has the problem then start with the pump and check / replace all components. ie: filter, lines, injectors blah blah
sam.
Turbo flutter. : Its like a burp and a hiccup at the same time.
To me it sounds like the most simple of the bunch... Fuel starvation... Like said, does it still happen with a full tank of fuel...
My friend has a Mira, they can never afford a full tank of fuel, that or they are too tight
Not implying anything though duude lol

but wouldnt a full tank for a mira be like about 3 oily rags ? or does it fit 4 ?
not enough fuel in the tank would be the first port of call.. after that like suggested go and check/replace up the line... pump, filter, FPR,
get a rag and a airgun. disconnect your fuel line.....and make sure it dusnt point at anything hot or sparkable...preferably ground and compress the tank to blow the lines out, runs some injector cleaner through, and maybe drain your tank, it also sounds like u may possibly have water in your tank, does it only do it with this tank fo fuel or has it done it before, u may have got fuel from a dodgy servo. check your fuel filter and everything, but only do that stuff after u have established if the car has fuel....filling up a diahatsu shuldnt set i back more than a cup of tea.....just please dont put a cup of tea in ur tank :$Dave

ok.......... alot of great help!!! thanx!
here's the situation.......... with a full tank of petrol it drives perfect.......... once it starts getting under half it starts spluttering and starving. when i turn reds on i can hear something coming from the fuel tank like a gargling noise. im in the process now of stripping the tank out............ but it's a bitch of a job on a car this small!
if your hearing gargling it sound like the fuel pump is still doing something...if it wasnt working it wouldnt make any noise .

fuel tank has no baffles.
dodgy shit.

whats a baffle??
as sourced from google searching fuel tank baffles.Fuel tank baffles are placed inside the tank to prevent the fuel from sloshing or splashing around in the tank. The baffles are metal plates that restrict fuel movement when the vehicle accelerates, decelerates, or turns corners.

Dude. My mates VL, when under a quater of a tank, it would do the exact same thing, only when cornering hard, coming on boost, or exescive driving, ie accelerate, brake, accelerate etc...
Id say, you have no baffling, baffling is like a plate of steel with holes. It allows fuel to slowly get in, but in turn stops fuel from escaping "quickly" from around the pump. So when your turning or braking or accelerating your fuel is rushing to the opposite side of the tank, your pump is suckin in air, making so called 'gargling' sound, and making your car stall...
Not alot you can do (under a budget) but drive 'sainly' with less then a half a tank or so or fuelAlternatively, spend a few $$ and get a baffling welded into your tank or spend the money on a surge tank...
Cheers,
Jase
