if they look liek this, then no chance.
why not just buy them in correct stud pattern?

I'm looking into getting some Impul RS Hoshino rims...high on my priorities is the weight of the rims,
Does anyone have any idea on whether these are lightweight rims and ~how much they weigh...I'm looking at 16x7's and 16'8's
I would also need to get them re-drilled from 5x100 to 4x100 PCD...I have been told that some lightweight wheels are actually hollow in some parts so you can't re-drill them, can anyone confirm if that is the case ith these rims??
if they look liek this, then no chance.
why not just buy them in correct stud pattern?

Usually a pretty bad idea, as the better wheels have forged centres. To change the PCD and/or stud pattern means welding and so on. It can be done, but it's ugly ...
P.S. it's 'wheels' not rims. Wheels have rims, rims don't have wheels.

probably better to convert your car to 5 stud really.
i wouldn;t bother too much about wheel mass (hey bill, what do you call a wheel with a tyre? or without one?) and i wouldn;t consider wheels that werent in the stud pattern/offset to fit my car.
mind you, this is the main reason it has taken me about 3 years to get 15 inch wheels for my car.
I'll tell you after you tell me when you need to pee, do you go to the bathroom or toilet?Originally Posted by shinybluesteel

i'm a man, the world is my toilet.
so toilet i guess.
you can buy bolt on spacers that convert four stud to five stud, but the only problem is that is can be expensive and are not street legal (thats if you get caught). Just Jap sell them but i can only find 4x114.3/5 that convert to 5x114.3/5.
I would go the option of what shinybluesteel said and go 5 stud hub.

Thanks for the advice guys...
Oldcorolla, they are the model before the ones you posted.
The reason I'm thinking about it is I'm having trouble finding decent rims in 4x100...by decent I'm not too fussy they just need to be lightweight and a good offset/width and preferably 16's but maybe 15's
The only reason I ask is I have seen lots of rims which have been drilled and there is a lot more available in good offset in 48114.3 and 5x100 PCD's but both times I've asked this question I've had negative responses so I guess I'm stuck looking for 4x100.
Weight is a big factor for me because it is unspring weight so it has quite an impact on the handling of the car and since I'm staying NA I'll need all the performance help I can get.
there are heaps on lightweight 4x100 rims around, almost all 15"
look at the mx5 crowd/honda crowd for what you want
i recently bought a set of 15 x 6.5" Volk TE37 (3.9kg) in +35 offset 4x100 for my starlet
if you are after something similar search the For Sale - Parts section of THIS FORUM, in particular look for a user named turboalfa. he has a few sets of lightweight wheels around at the moment![]()

Thanks for the link I will check it out...problem with 4x100 is that they are mostlye FWD rims aka Honda, Starlet, Corolla etc so the offset is all wrong. Even MX5's seems to often have pretty average offsets because I think they have same problem as me and end up settling for FWD rims. I'm looking for offsets down oround the +28 to +32 range.Originally Posted by jezza323

What sort of vehicle do you need that sort of offset/studpattern for? I have seen Speedstar RS8's in that pattern and a P34 offset but only in 15 inch. Euro fitments may be worth a look, I'm sure there are a couple that run the right stud pattern and offset.

This is for an AW11 MR2, I've found the odd rim in Japan that would suit but would prefer not to go through the import process. I will definitely consider 15's...I'm just weighing up performance vs filling the arches which is why I though 16's would be a good compromise but 15's still worth a look.
I have found some realy nice Borbet Type A rims which would look fantastic but Borbet are quite heavy rims...I think up around the 7.5 to 8kg per rim.
before you spend big on 16" rims.. make sure you can get the tyre sizes you want, in the compounds you want
apparently 15 and 17 are much more popular/available

quite a few of the mx5 racers use wheels in the +20 through to +35 range, although i believe they are a bit harder to come by
i believe there are some older BMW's with more friendly offsets to you
also consider 3 piece wheels, you can just get new rims to suit the offset you want and keep the centres
