    Default sw20 mr2

Ive just done a 3sgte conversion including rebuilding the engine and ct26 turbo (1992 model), and have now done 500km.
What oil should I be using now and after run-in?
When I bought the engine, cams were advance and retarded 1 tooth= more power, torque at lower rev. Any associated problems with this?

Also, any suggestions on boost controllers and BOVs including safe boost psi would be good.
Answers to any of these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Oil - A decent fully synthetic matched to your local conditions. Personally I like Motul for my Gen 3.

BOV - You havent mentioned which Gen you have so if its a Gen 2 dont use a BOV, stick with the ABV recirculated or if you go aftermarket make it a plumb back. Venting BOV's on a Gen 2 (AFM equipped) can and will cause issues.

Boost - Gen 2 will have fuel cut around 12psi so to go over this you'll need a fuel cut defender or you can disconnect the boost sensor for a cheap alternative however this elimiates fuel cut entirely rather than shift it. FCD is a much better idea, after all fuel cut is a safety measure designed to prolong the life of your engine. Once fuel cut is out of the way you should be able to safely boost at about 12/13psi.

Boost controller - Depends what you want to spend and what features you want. I went with an electronic controller, the Apexi AVC-R to be exact as its very wank and has far to many features that I'll never use . Manual boost controllers are much cheaper.

Blake, thanks for the info, where would I get an aftermarket FCD, how much do they cost, and are they easy to fit?

easiest way is to remove the vacuum hose from the map sensor and plug it. No more boost cut (but your stock boost gauge doesn't work anymore, not like its much use anyways).

Another way is to solder in a zener diode in reverse from the output wire and ground, this will do the same thing, and still keep your gauge working.

Turbosmart make a FCD for your engine if your after a local manufacturer. If JDM stuff is more your thing then most of the major Jap brands offer them also. Altho I have never installed one myself the write-ups I've read about installing them all seem VERY simple. If your handy with electronics theres even articles about the place on how to make one yourself.

motul yuck :| i hated it in mine.. ran like a pig. Ive had much better response with Castrol Edge Sport 10W60... especially on a higher mileage engine...
