Doing a 3sfe to 3sge conversion. Already pulled the entire loom out of a ST162 celica and engine etc.
Looking at the miles of wiring and i was wondering why not just wire up a after market ECU of some description.
Surely it would be less screwing around then fitting the ST162 loom to the camry?
I notice 2nd hand microtechs are fairly cheap or does anybody else have any recommendations?
I'm leaving the 3sge stock and want it as simple as possible.

dont buy second hand microtechs as they might not suit yr car
another thing is 10 or 15 % of the engine wiring on most of those camrys or celicas run power from fusebox to under the dash
so u still have to use bits of that wiring anyway
u just cant throw it all away
anyway it looks like heaps but it aint that bad
nothing is as nice as std ecu
Stock engine stock Ecu IMO
1990 Aus Delivered Widebody GT4 Play 200 awkw
1996 HDJ80. turbo multivalve 80 series landcruiser
1997 HZJ80 Landcruiser Sold![]()
1993 Soarer V8 Manual Sold![]()
1986 Celica SX Sold![]()
a lot easier to use stock ecu. the wiring shouldn't be too hard as it should be quite similar being of the same period.
its not hard
jsut pull both looms out sit one ontop of the other and start probing and cutting and soldering
thats how i do my mail order looms
