Socket extension with suitable socket on works with some clutches. Suggesting that your average person has spare input shafts lying around is an interesting conceptOriginally Posted by Merudo
I'll try the screwdriver handle nextime, my CA18DET clutch didn't go well with the socket method![]()

Gotta get my hands on a spare input shaft... lol
But I used an extension and alligned by eye... Was tedious, but not too difficult. But im lazy and love easier ways to do stuffhehehe
But the tow truck took away the other ae92 with all the gear box bolts. And im pretty sure that the auto box ones are longer, so they wont work. So now i gotta get my hands on a set of Manual gearbox boltsdarrrnit! lol

Hey, does anyone know for sure wether or not the manual bolts are interchangeable with the auto bolts? Any can you get bolt sets? Or does someone know where/who i can get some from...???

Crikies that is cheap.. 1JZ flywheel bolts are $9-$10 trade (sheet is at home can't remember exact price)... 8 bolts on a 1JZ flywheel to :S lol
The actual bellhousing bolts are probably the same, flywheel bolts should be the same for the auto and manual too.
You can get new flywheel bolts from toyota...
90105-10042 is the part number for them.. I think that's for a set

flywheel bolts and pressure plate bolts were the same. The only bolts i need are the bellhousing ones. And these auto ones i have seem to be too long and too short and too fat and too thinlol
Unless ive lost the bolts for both boxes entirelyhahaha

Bellhousing ones are different between auto and manual I just discovered.. best bet might be to visit a wrecker, or order some new from toyota

I tried a wrecker, said they throw them all out straight after removing... Was actualy a real fuck wit about it. Said, "if i sold bolts then id be a bolt shop wouldnt i... No mate, i sell gearboxes...", pretty much just a wanker...
Tried toyota, and the guy wasnt sure about it, said for me to come down and check out his toyota manual, see if the bolts look like the right ones... And that if the 1 he cant get in, is not important... But i wanted to check if anyone here had a toyota manual so i can see the bolts i need and just buy with part numbers so i dont get the wrong ones...

I realise its important to use the right bolts, don't get me wrong - but $10.50 per bolt is extortion, the margin on that must be massive?Originally Posted by Billzilla
And in the case of mine, i can't even buy high tensile ones to suit, because nissan chose to use a thread pitch that you literally cannot buy anywhere else. My sisters partner runs a bolt/steel shop and couldn't get them even.

I replace the flywheel bolts on my race engine everytime they are undone.
I actually ended up buying and machining another flywheel so I dont have to remove them when I swap between my two engines.

I would suggest new flywheel and pressure plate bolts every time if possible. For a 4AC that would set you back about $20 from your friendly toyota dealer. They are way too easy to break when they are old.
Get youself a clutch alignment tool from your local clutch shop, my last 'a' series one set me back about $6.50, and make the job heaps easier.
If the engine is out of the car you can use a broom or screwdriver to lign it up by eye, but it's much easier to use the proper tool.
