Cam lobes chipped

started pulling down my spare 4efte today, cams have chips off the sides of the lobes

what do ppl think my options are (for cams)

you can see pics of the chips HERE

there is 1 largish and 1 small chip on the lobe peaks, the rest are on the flat surface (valve opening)

do the buckets have marks in them? have they been being spun around more than usual?

it is a shiim over bucket, so the shims contact the cams, havent got the shims here to look at

ill check them out tomorrow

looks like it ran for a while without a shim in a bucket.
i would just file away any sharp edges and keep driving. i did it with my 1g cams...

how many lobes is this shizzle on? just the one set? if it is the one set id do wat oldmate suggested and get rid of sharp edges, but if its more than one set id take a good look at the engine cos somthing isnt right

anywho, on a further note. you could take to somewhere like tighe cams or any cam shop and get them to weld in and grind back the damage.
so its like new again.
thats basically how they do it when the regind ur cams anyway

lathe and emry paper is your freind... Watever dimples you leave will hold oil anyway = good thing...

i was considering getting a reprofile done anyway

so this is just an excuse 280 degree cams here we come....

just gotta compare prices with Wade and Ivan Tighe and this place in NZ and a place in the US, see where is best to go
