I could think what you're thinking if I knew what you were thinking. But I have NFI!

It's not lame, that's your provincial tas attitude, but it isn't tech either.

whateva! it's more bland than a corolla. and i bet 4WD means it has discs all round.

-It's an 89, which means it's based on a FWD platform.

-Is got an 'S' series motor (probably a 4S or some rubbish, but that doesn't matter

-Thus 3SGTE swap becomes rather easy (compared to say mounting one in an AE86)

-Would likley share some running gear with the ST165 celica.

-For $1000 it's good value, however there is the shipping and taxing that makes it less worth while.

    Cheers

89 model = RAWS compliance, or Rally/Race only rego. I doubt anyone has bothered with RAWS for an ST170 Corona.

You'd have to find an 88 or earlier example for it to be registerable.

The other option is to try and find one already registered in Oz before the import rule change.

They are everywhere in NZ, you'd be better off searching there as old cars are cheap and imported with low km's, than buying some random one from japan.
I had a look under one, seems to be the same as the celica gt4 ST16x, which are crap anyway.

ive seen about 4 in townsville. i know where there is one parked regularly. it has the fog lights also.

they look very ordinary and probably perform the same.
