Check your igniter module and connections, apparently the modules have been known to fall over. Forgot to plug mine in once, gave me all sorts of grief trying to start the car at 12.30am so I could get home!
Hey all
Im currently doing a 4a conversion
The loom is a ae82 bigport loom with big port ecu.
As i said the car isnt starting, its getting fuel, didnt check injector pulse but has no spark. This automaticly leads me to think its the wiring.
Basically witht he loom i just plugged in what plugged in, and extended the things that needed extending, most notibly the battery part of the loom that comes out behind the back of the head, i cut all this and extended it to the battery, atm everything is just twisted/taped, as all i want is to get the dam thing started.
So my question to you is, when converting a loom to rwd, what is it that has to be done?
What might i have missed?
Is it right the ecu only uses two of the three plugs?
Does it matter if i just run ignition to the fuel pumps?
Any help is much appreciated
Thanks in advance
Cheers

Cheked, isnt there a wiring guide or something anywhere on converting fwd loom to rwd in ae86?
K guys i have been doing some reasearch for a lot of hours now and am still unsure about this.
I have been told to get a efi relay from an ae82 and wack it into the spot in the ae86 fuse box, is there a plug to suit this relay there?
Also what do people usually do with there circuit open relay? If i just run fuel pump off switch (relay too) do i have to touch any extra wiring to get engine to run? will not using this relay cause something else not to work?
Also in the plug on ecu (14p) do i just have to connect the +B1, +B, Batt pins?
Hooking battery to Batt
Tap into the Black/Red wire from EFI Main Relay and put to both the +B1 and +B pins?
Also, i dont have any relay (as far as i know) for the engine main relay? Is the plug for this located in the same spot as the EFI main relay, near the battery?
As far as i know this is what needs doing, Some one please help me will be much appreciated.
Cheers![]()

Yeh it needs all 3 connected to the ecu.
The 3rd plug 14pin will have IIRC 2 power inputs, one goes on with ignition, and the other is on all the time to remember settings. It also has a negative wire that comes out which should go to a relay for the fuel pump.

IIRC?? what does this mean

Any other input from people that have done this
I have, but my info wouldnt be much use, because i didn't use any of the fuse box to wire it up. I used my own seperate relays

What circuits did you use sepearate relays for?
Will it start with the fuel pump running just off ingition, not using the - signal from the ecu on the 14p plug?
I used 3 relays, 1 to supply ignition power to the ecu, and 1 to provide power for the coil and cold start stuff on the loom. And the other is for the fuel pump.
I guess you could run the pump of ignition, but if the engine's off it would keep priming all the time. and if you are in a crash it will keep pumping. Its more of a safety thing.

Yeah i got it going, ended up doing the same as you
