    Default 1uz-fe + V160

This may be of special interest to Ed. It seems a bloke in the US has made an adapter plate to mount a Getrag V160 (Supra 6-speed) to a 1UZ. I'm not sure if this has been done before but it's the first time I've seen it. Looks pretty good!

Its been done at least 2 or 3 times in Australia over the last few years.

"Apparently' (I say that lightly) Dellow are working on the adaptor.

    Looks hell impressive.

I'm about to start the same thing with a 3VZ and a W50 box (yes, way less impressive).

Why a W50? Surely you can get bellhousings to suit a W58?

I have lots of W50s and if they blow, they're easy and cheap to replace.

From my limited research, the manual V6s were 4WD so that means the bellhousings were for R series boxes. That would mean an R154 with R151 bellhousing and spacer (R151 input shaft is shorter) for a 3VZ in an RT81.....seems a bit overkill.

Anyway back on topic - I'd definitely be up for an adaptor ring.

Hmmm, I have a V160 in the garage, Bill Sherwood tried to sell me a 1UZ the other week, this guy is making adapters... do I see a new project on the horizon?

Nay, put the 1UZ in the MA61. If need be extend the front track by 51mm, and mount the 1UZ 127mm further back in the engine bay. Might require some slight firewall modifications. Oh yeah, and while you are at it extend rear track by 48mm, and wheelbase by 19mm.

GT, I'm sure you've done this, but have you looked at S bellhousings?

I don't know anyone who has one handy.

That adaptor ring would go well with this....
