get the proper carbsthat or take it to a carby specialist.
Hey ive been having some trouble tuning my 18RG, i can get it to sort of run but it sits somewhere in the 2000rpm range and i have to rags over the inlets of the carbs. The carbies where off a Alfa so i was told and there jetted out to .65 or .70 one of them. anyone got some great tips this.

beer me!
Are you sure they are Solex's? I doubt alfa ever used french parts.
Unless you can find out exactly which type the are (40's, 44's etc) and jet sizes no one can help you.
Its much easier to just replace carby's, sell them on ebay and then buy other ones.
Can you adjust the idle throttle so that the butterfly's completely close? Maybe the linkages are holding it open, or they dont close properly for some other reason.

dont know why i did that. Do you guys know what other parts could be used as the efi setup on a 18rg
problem solved. i found to vacume lines coming from the back of the rail that runs ontop of the inlet manifold. i blocked them off and the cars runs sweet.
