What turbo are you guys using?

Mike should be able to sort out the converter either way. I am not sure if he does it himself?

You want the advertised stall to equal 5psi of boost or thereabouts.

I'll be running a GT35R with the 0.86 exhaust housing. Figuring full boost will hit about 4000rpm. Need to find someone running this turbo on a 1JZ, as Mike said that is the best way for us to optimise the launch of the car and the way it performs. He suggested the 2800 would be the most drivable on the street etc. At 3000rpm, the 1JZ might be generating 5psi boost....not sure.

I don't think you would have 5psi at 3000rpm. Jampac has 5psi by 2900rpm in an auto soarer in 3rd gear with a GT30 475hp turbo .8X rear. 1st gear is usually a bit worse because of the load on engine.

    I get 5psi 3200rpm in 3rd gear with a GT3076R similar turbo minus the BB. 57mm comp inducer .63 turbine a/r.

I think Mike will tell you to go with the 3400rpm converter that Shane has for that turbo unless you are going to use nitrous.

Nah no nitrous....the car is still going to be a daily driver

Yeah I'll suggest to Mike what you said etc., and see what he decides to do. He said he does a 3200-3800 stall or something like that, and I reckon it'd fit perfectly in with the turbo sizing.

    A couple of reasons,
I only run on my regular street tyres at normal street tyre pressures so traction is a big issue once I hit 4,000rpm and about 16psi

I probably just have more mechanical sympathy than I really need to, but as it's a daily driver and I can't afford to keep replacing stuff that breaks, I'd prefer to be a tad more gentle and have it last longer.

It's exceeded my goals and expectations in running a 12.83, so no need to push it any harder... Mind you, it is very tempting to whack on a set of drag radials, wind up the boost a bit more and up the stall (and get someone who is not a lard arse like me and aim for an 11.99)

just kidding - a genuine streetable 12.83 is more than enough for me....
