Yes but you do it after the tires are hot! The heat draws everything out so after a run it will show its uselessOriginally Posted by Roundy

You will be helping the people that follow your run more than your run! The softener works because it lays more rubber!
Iike brand new 1/4 mile track or circuit track is never fast until there is rubber down for your tyres to grip too!![]()
Mate, if you have seen any footage of the GT8 in action a bit of WD on the fronts won't make a squat of differencethe full slick rears will be laying the rubber and plenty of it i suspect

But it has never been something that has been a concern! The main reason it dosnt work when you do laps or even for one lap exept for the start and maybe the first corner.Originally Posted by M.J.H
It would be good only for racing that the front runners didnt have new tires etc and for the start.
It works, no doubt about that, just not sustained!

used it for an event and got 3 runs out of the tyres before they went off so would be the same as one lap I guess.
suppose from all this is yes can be okay for Hillclimbs (In my opinion) but not for track use.

Thanx MJH, some actual use provides some useful info.
Do you mind shedding some light on what car and was it just the fronts or rears as well? Trying to get a feel for how much i'll get out of the heavyweight GT8.....touch and go although for $20 (if they'll post the shit) a coupla laps wopuild make it a goer.....a coupla corners and it's the WD (results pending) FTW.

Shane, there's a pair of R compound Yoko's on rims ready to go at my place, to be donated to the further on-car testing procedureOriginally Posted by YLD-16L
They have been sitting for a while so are quite hard compared to what they should be. Drop over & let the myth busting begin!
Or you could just save time & cut to the chase by asking Kingmick for his analysis, i'm sure he will turn up in this thread sometime soon...oh hang on, did you hear him say something already?

Was a big difference in grip level as before I would turn in and have to wait for the tyres to start and bite a little before giving it any sort of power through or out of the corner.
After the treatment they would hook up straight away and felt much nicer to drive on. More grip and was able to get the power on a little earlier than before. End result on the day was about half a second quicker from memory which was enough to get the win against a few other cars who had got new tyres the event before.
The track I ran at was a short (500M or so) Hillclimb which is very twisty and technical to drive. Lots of corners that either tighten as you go round or open up as you exit all connected by short straights in between.
Hope that gives you a bit of help in deciding but as I have used the ASNU before I would go with it again if I needed to at some time.
But like I said earlier, If you do use it then follow the directions exactly and don't get it on the skin as it burns like a real bitch.

The GT8 is a bit of a heavy arse, as are all GT4s, so i doubt i'll get as much track time out of the treated tyres as you do in the featherweight clubman but still sounds worth a crack. The local track is approx 900m with a few killer tight turns but you can get some speed on board thru the more open sections. Thanx again.

I applied the WD40 and I can't say anything amazing occured........yet.
Where I applied a single application it took a while 3 hours+ but it eventually evaporated/soaked in but even this morning the tyre still felt greasy/oily which is a bit of a concern.
I will report on the section that had a heavy application and has been covered in glad wrap after I check it tonight.
Initial findings are not that inspiring![]()
