    Default Reviving semi slicks

Hopefully heading to a Hillclimb later this month and have a bit of a tyre dilemma. My limited hillclimb experience suggests that front slicks just don't get a chance to get up to temp. I have a set of semi slicks (Pirelli Corsa) but they are a bit shagged...read hard. Now i remember from my carting days many many moons ago that there was a product you could soak your old tyres in to get another round out of them.

So, anyone know the name of this product or any other 'tricks' that'll revive my semi slicks for one last outing ??

I have never seen any products like that design for car tyres, i have seen tyre additives for karts and stuff to soften them up,
Im intrested to see what the product is cause we have a few set of slicks and semi slicks that are new but old and i could pickup cheaply

Here's a list of tyre conditioner compounds that might help out http://www.pecpower.com/shop/?shop=1&cat=60&cart=140602

Sorry I have no idea if any of those products are available for sale in Australia though.

Thanx Josh, looks like there's stuff out there to do the job at least. Now to find something locally.

another option is to go on the IPRA forums and look for 2nd hand tyres. A lot of guys who take things vvery seriously will buy new tyres for each round, so you will often find good tyres with only one round on them, fine for hillclimbs, sprints and racing. We normally use ours for 3 rounds, and there is still 50% left, but by that time the compound tends to be shagged after many heat cycles. (hot then cold)

No thanx Zork, i have a zillion sets of tyres gathering dust as it is. One last event on the Corsa's and i can say goodbye to them with a nice smokey skid I'll run them regardless but be nice to squeeze any extra performance outta them i can.

I'm pretty sure I've seen cans of tyre conditioner at Revolution (are they still there?)

VHT trackbite can be brushed on. Not cheap but you don't have to use much apparently.

Justen Justen Justen... you wouldn't have been conditioning kart tyres would ya? cos that wouldn't be quite legal

    good luck at the hillclimb.

As it isn't for circuit racing, i wouldn't imagine its legal in hill climbs.lol

bit of a random one, but when i was karting i heard demestos worked at softening the tyres...never tried it tho

i used tyre treatment a couple of times for karts (just to give the tyres a bit more life for testing) i think i still have some in the shed...it worked for sure!

All good then, i'll pop into Revolution and see how much they'll rape me for some tyre conditioner.

Timbo, if you saw the tyre marks on the cart pods, tyre conditioner use would be the last of your worries Last of the late brakers
