Default Corolla Steering Column Length Verse RA23

I am half way through doing a power steering conversion to our RA23 using an XX Celica PS box. I need to cut the steering shaft back 28mm to accomodate the extra length of the PS box but I seem to recall a thread somewhere saying that a Corolla shaft is shorter? I have done a search but came up with nothing. Does anyone know if a particular model of Corolla is shorter than an RA23?

If it looks like it might be shorter then that would be great. The dimension between the very top of the shaft and the fortest point where the rubber flange bolts to is 76mm. Maybe I should send a pic so you can see what I mean.

is there any way to put a spacer behind the column and keep the same shaft (effectively moving the s/wheel out a bit) ?
