    rollin,

there are a few things I can help you with. First, think about what you are writing and what you are asking. Look at what you have written, you are assuming people know what car you are talking about - you don't actually say. I for one can't read your mind. It would be useful to provide details of your car, then people will have some idea as to whether or not the gearbox will fit onto the bellhousing and if you will need to change or modify your tailshaft.

Secondly, have you considered that the modification you seek may have already been covered in the forum? There is a search function and by entering a variety of terms you may find some relevant information. Searching and researching does take time - usually a lot of time. If you show you have made an effort to find an answer to your question and have found that what you are asking has not been covered before, people are more likely to be helpful. It should be noted that at the bottom of the list of forums under the Forums tab is the Old Toymods Forums and it is worth searching this archive.

Lastly, if your 'offer' requires you to make a quick decision about a purchase you might let the forum know this as it is a reasonable excuse for why you were not able to do the search. I have had to do this myself recently and under such circumstances people are usually helpful and understanding.

So, what car do you have? Out of interest, what is the offer price and when do you have to decide on the deal?

well i know for a fact you are on rolla club, go and look at the gearboxes ! ! thread, disregard everything everyone else has said bar me and dez. there is your anwser, in short, yes the bellhousing will fit with no worries and you will have to change to a 20 spline yoke, the box will be no stronger or weaker than the 22 spline box

seriously dude this is your second thread where the answer has been covered so many times its not funny, search its there for a reason

edit* oh i have realise you have started the SAME thread on rolla club about a week prior to this one, WTF dude?

Yes the bellhousing will fit, but not without worries - this is the second time I've corrected you on this info!

The T sereis and A series T50 gearboxes have different front bearings - so while you can fit a bellhousing from either series to the other series box, unless you address bearing support issues, you simply wear the box out. Not the best result I feel, without spending time and possibly money on making up new bearing supprts to slip between the box and the bellhousing?!

I also agree with Peter, but I say the bell housings are not a even a 'straight' swap. As already said the input and idler shaft front bearings are different . It just does not make sense even to try.

I suggest. Find the A series T50 as it has the better input and idler bearings anyway and do not buy the T series T50.

It would have been so much easier if Toyota just called the boxes, T50 and A50.

    Regards

    Rollin,

have you phoned around the importers/wreckers to see if they have any of the latter T50 series boxes? Doing some research on what cars had them would help - you might be able to pick one yourself. The thread that Oldcarollas quoted was very informative - hope Toycrash continues with it. I had no idea there were different series of T50's and T bellhousings. If you send Toycrash a PM/email he might be able to let you know the different combined lengths of the 4A-GE bellhousing and T50's and then you may be able to determine if you need a tailshaft mod. You're not short of options and the conversion doesn't seem too difficult.

BTW what are T50's selling for these days?
