could be alot of things,
is it running all 4 cyls?
carbies got a decentish tune? ignition all good?
Wondering if anyone can help me,
I own a TA22 with a 2T-G (Solex carbs), runs hard at higher rpm (any higher that 2500), but seems to be real sluggish and lumpy at low rpm.
I’m thinking it’s a fuel thing? Carbie jets perhaps? Not sure however, if anyone can point me in the direction of sussing out the problem I would be very grateful!
Cheers,
Luke

If its the stock solex's the jests are fine.
Try playing with the idle mixture screw. Its the adjustment screw near the manifold side of the solex's openings. Turn them until you get max rpm then turn back to when the revs drop, then remember what that distance was between the two and take it back to half way. If you find you are now idling to high, reduce the idle speed screw and re-do the mixture. If solex's are like webers ull be doing this for all 4 throttles.

i have playing with the above mentioned and done the best i can, im thinking a rebuild kit might be a option? the shafts don’t have a huge amount of movement in them but when running the car and spraying some aerostat on the shaft in runs better for a moment. could this lack or seal be causing my problems
sounds like a carbie issue
Yeah, a new kit might help and thats common for bad idle (cracked gasket lets air in, slowly but jsut enough to disrupt the idle).

A full carb rebuild and tune-up can cost upwards of $700+. Yes, not cheap, but when done you'll think you've got a new engine.
It is certainly prudent to try the aforementioned tuning tips, but if this doesn't fix the problem and everything else (ignition, coil, dizzy, points, plugs, fuel delivery/filter) is okay, then you've got to start looking at your carbs.
Of course, you can take the easy way out... rip out the badly tuned aged carbs and put in EFI and then tell the world how much better EFI is over (badly tuned) carbs. D'oh

Have a good look around for any vaccum leaks then get a piece of hose about two feet long and have a listen around all the places you might get a leak as it dosn't take much to upset the idle. Also has the engine been performing ok and this problem just occured. Need more info. Make sure your carb ballance is all the same. Use the same length of hose and compare intake noise from each throat. You can also use the aero start trick to help find any vaccum leaks. If you spray aerostart or even CRC around a minor vaccum leak the idle speed will momentarily rise.Just a couple of ideas, see how you go.
