Got anything to back that up? I don't think i've heard of someone destroying an F-series before.Originally Posted by river
I've only heard of the stock LSD centres letting go if abused, but with a TrueTrac they seem near indestructible.

Hi,
My diff broke many years ago, when I was young and foolish and treated the car with disrespect. That was behind a stock 18R-G.
I'm sure there are those around here who have destroyed a F-series diff. As I said, it all depends on how much power you are putting through it and if you abuse it.
Me, being conservative, would go for a G-series to make sure it's robust enough to take any abuse I'm going to throw at it. However, if others feel an F-series would suffice, then so be it.

I think any 30yr old diffs will break if you treat them badly. Put a new TrueTrac and it sounds like you will be fine.
Another factor to consider, where are you going to get a F series live axle from? they came in MX23's which are extremely rare. G series are very common.

i reckon the G diff really would be easier, considering they were more widely used. there's more ratios available, and more LSD options. they would be easier to get hold of, probly for about the same price maybe a bit more, and most/all of them are 5 stud pattern giving better choice of wheels.

I'm organising trutrac LSDs for these at $650 a pop.Originally Posted by joecoolmk2

My mate has an F series with a Cusco 2 way in a 3sgte powered ae71. It runs a twin plate os giken clutch and pumps out 250kw. This thing gets its arse reamed everyday with 4th gear reclutches and all the hoo haa and the diff hasnt even started making noises.

What car is the big question. G series has a more available range of widths so no point going F series from say a Crown if your wheels are going to sit half a mile out the guards.

Its going itno a RA40 so 1410 wide is needed

MX13 = 4-stud with drums
MS112 = 5-stud with discs
