    Default TA22 Axial Bearing Tension

    Hey everybody,

I've just put new front wheel bearings on my car, but have been unable to find the proper tension for the nut that holds the disc in place on the stub shaft (which then has a cap and split pin through it - anybody familiar with taking the disc off should know what nut I'm talking about). Dad dug up his Alfa tensions for his '67 Giulia Sprint GTV and we followed the procedure in that book, which worked great, but the tension for said nut seems a bit too high...10.8 ft.lbs. (Dad's old imperial torque wrench).

So, does anybody have the correct torque value for this nut?

    Hi,

    260 - 320 kg-cm (19 - 24 ft-lb).

Preload should be 0.3 - 0.7 kg (9.0 - 22.5 oz) with the wheel rotating.

Pre load on a taperd bearing nut is about the weight of a 12" shifter.
Tighten the nut (not to tight) spin wheel then loosen the nut and then with the shifter pointing up let it fall so it stops at about 3 oclock and thats your tesion.
pin it and put the cap back on.
    hope this helps.
