Hi all, I've just bee doing some research (and searching) about the 4AG conrods so I can finally solve some mysteries. I thought perhaps if we put it all together in one thread it will help for the future.
So rather than say what I have read I want to know what other know. I have a set of questions here, +rep to anyone who can answer them for sure. Please only post if you know the facts (no "I heard this might be true" etc.)
1: 4AGE 20V Silvertop conrods are the same as 4AGZE con rods?
2: All 4AGZE con rods are the same?
3: 4AGE Smallport conrods are the same as 4AGZE ones?
I have some more but I'll leave it at this for now.

yes, as above
eg march 1989 4agze = same rods as march 4age.
goes like this:
bluetop rod--->
change to 42mm crank in redtop = new rod----->
then a few months AFTER the small port change = change to slightly smaller rods, these continue right thru 20v silvertop/ae1014agze untill....
blacktop 20v = last and smallest rod used. 4agze discontinued when BT intorduced in the ae111.
Okay thanks guys, guess that sums it up right there. I think what I might do then is make a graphic to help the less experienced.
