the 06 STI subbie that i build to race ARC (major sponsor is link ECUs) in its first race came top 10 (in the ARC) and like top 3 in the VRC

they cant be that bad, but probly wont compare to topline ecus

Possum Bourne when he was alive used to use the Link in his rally cars.

A friend of mine uses them alot in the cars they tune/build, and never have any issues with them, and they have put them through there paces in offroading in rally cars, buggies and have used them in super tourers, tarmac cars and road cars.

translation: my tuning skill is really crap so whenever i see something i dont understand i pour shit over it. I only use the maps supplied by the ECU reseller and waste heaps of time on the dyno wondering how to get more power out of customer engines.

    ...

Find another tuner who listens to what you want and works out a way to achieve your goals for the car/engine.

Or better still, learn/research about your chosen ECU and work with your tuner to improve your car's performance (plus you'll have the benefit of knowing how you car is managed and how to change/modify it if needed).

unstable?? sounds like a dodgy ECU..

LInks is also used in the race cars, national race series in Malaysia.. and they're controlling Lotus, Maserattis (sp?) etc etc... so yea.. i've always thought of them has being one of the best because i've never seen it in any street driven car.. only race cars etc etc.. are they really expensive, more than Motec? or just purely unobtainable, and need a lot of effort e.g. ordering, approvals etc etc to have it?

    lol
no they are not dear, well theres 2 or 3 levels
heaps of them in road cars, infact here they would be the no1 choice for a road car.

as mentioned above find a tuner who will discuss what you want, and will listen and advise.
theres not too many ecus out there that are "crap"
but theres a few that dont suit certain applications.

in high octane 2, ketzal sterling used a Link 3SGTE ECU and hand controller in his SW20 gen II and gained about 20-30rwkw (cant remember how much exactly) from a very minor tune without changing much else.. and if theres anything i can give the kiwis cred for doing better than us at, its the import scene!

I've got one controlling my 18RGEU in my RA28, when i got it it was running shit but i gave it to a good tuner who got it up from about 50rwkw to 80rwkw...
I think its pretty basic but i like the hand controller, pretty simple to use (although i don't know what some things mean.)

I talked to many tuners when organising someone to work on my car, some were scared of the brand and wouldn't touch it, One didn't have the laptop software so he wouldn't tune it (he wouldn't only use the hand controller) and many others said "yeh i'll have a crack".

    Wanna ask me any questions?
