but for the time being, i need a usedy...

so are the 7m and 1g alternators the same?...they look identical,..... as 7m are alot easier to find then 1g....

they are same era motors... so same common alt?

cheers fellas, searched but couldnt find anythin,

Mine has very recently recieved a reco. I asked a couple of auto leccy's the same q. One had NFI, the other was pretty adament that they have different windings & regulators (after doing the reco). So that wouldnt seem good, but, i could hardly understand his English to ask what would have happened, and honestly if he hadnt had such quick service i was about to do the exact same thing with a 7M alternator.

I cant really see how there could be a problem if it fits and it starts and runs while all things like headlights are on. The only thing that could be comprimised is the battery if its under or overcharged by relative supply and demand of current.
    meh...

it wouldn't matter if the current output is slightly different (these EFI toyotas tend to be around the 70-80 amp mark) - as long as the pulley's line up, the output pins are for the same purposes and the mounts are in the same spot, bolt it in.

i just compared one up against the miss's MX83 cressy,

they look identical, i would pull it off and try it, but cbf, and the miss's would probably hurt me too, lol

For anyone contemplating this in the future, keep in mind there are two variants of the 1G warning light output - one that's identical to most alts (ie 12V when OK), and the other that's opposite to most alts (0V is OK).
