Default Running Locked Ignition on Carbed 4AGE

Ok, so im just thinking about ignition for one of the carby cars im building, and im very tempted to just use completely locked ignition to simplify things and drop costs. Especially since finding vac or mech advanced dizzys for 4AGs is a pain. Now i can do this with a bigport dizzy and an intelligent ignitor, and this will simply lock it at whatever the dizzy is dialed in to.

But what im more interested in is how effective this is, or whether it will be a complete pig?

    Opinions? Ideas?

The car wont be getting a HUGE amount of usage, and will mostly be thrashed out at Mallala, so i dont see the lack of ignition advance being overly important.

the old jaycar programmable ignition kit would be useful in this instance.

Of just get a vacuum advance dizzy made up out of the guts of a dizzy from a 4a.

I did this for the 1g (well, something similar) and it cost relatively two hoots of fuck all.

Its recommended that you dont use vac/advanced dizzy with DCOE's (i assume by "carbed" you mean dcoe webers).

    Close, Solexes.

This is an interim stage to get the car running and sorted suspension wise and the driver used to the car before a GZE goes into it. GZE and all future revisions will be running off a Squirt.

    Squirt = h0rn.

good thing is you will be able to run the SC clutch from the MS-II as well, using one of the spare outputs, which can have two conditional logic parameters...

I've finally figured out just about everything you can do with the squirt now

Im going to be building a carb'd GE in the near future...

I have electronic ignition on the 4AC now but its not like the normal ae82 one. It has the coil in side the dizzy. It has vac and mech advance... Alot like whats in the ST141 coronas but it was from a 4AC in the USA

Is this the ideal dizzy that you would be after?? As in can i still use it??

Yeh, mine is 7.5mm thick. Heres a pic -

The other problem is the shaft diameter on the 4k dizzy is smaller than the 4ag. To allow the 4k dizzy to fit in, you have to get a spacer ring machined up to slot into the dizzy hole on the 4ag head. Theres a groove machined into the top of the ring for an oil seal aswel. Heres a pic of mine in the head.

I'll get some measurements of the spacer ring soon.
    cheers
