Its a mini truck, they are designed to be on display. Anyone can leave the standard live axle in it, IRS is just another way of displaying some engineering skills and standing out from the crowd. Crown could be worth a look but i thought the IRS ones were wider? You will need to find the hubs from an MS123 to convert your current one to 5 stud so may be worth a look and measure up. One advantage is that its already from a full chassis so may make life a little easier for mounting it up.

Cheers WDE BDY... You see my point of veiw.. Everyone runs the stock live axel with a four link setup.. Trucks are pretty much only for looks. Practability goes out the window.. But mine will go a little better than a standard one.. This will be the 3rd time i've bagged a car so I'm trying something different..

Yeah... From what i know the crown irs is wider. I'll get to a wreckers and have a look.. But once again, I know its an aceint dinosaur irs but the wheel track is spot, its the only one I know of that is..

Neg camber on all four wheels the thing is layed out on its rails will look awesome.. Can't wait!!

We were saying that u should go ahead and use the RT142 corona IRS....the suggestion was that if the weight of the corona (or MA61 / MX73...mx73 looks like ur best bet atm ) is an issue simply say that it is out of a crown...if the engineer can pick it I'd be well amazed

    Cheers

I doubt you'll be able to get it approved. The weight the engineer would be looking for would be the weight of the vehicle plus the weight of the load it can carry. My '94 2wd single cab lux has a GVM of 2730kg (the weight of the vehicle, 3passengers, a tank of fuel and a 1 tonne load). I may be wrong here 'cause I've had several tyre shops tell me that if I put passenger car springs in I could get the load rating reduced by an engineer.

I'm interested to hear how you go with the engineer.

I'd say that would be the most possible solution.

Get the car reclassed so that its no longer a commercial vehicle, and no longer can carry 1 ton of weight.

From memory, all a passenger car has to carry, is a full tank, 75kg for every seat (or is it 85kg?), and 15kg of luggage per passenger.

dunno about where you are but we've tried to reduce the load limit on mine and a few other utes to put different wheels etc etc on the car and they wont have a bar of it..... you know the rules there written so they can be interpruted how the transport department see's fit.

youd have more luck registering it as a custom vehicle.

you wont get an engineer to mod plate bagged suspension in qld anyway many have tried and all have failed. even with self levelling etc etc. all different types of setups, monoleaf , even an un notched ute still no love, so if your going to bag it and just put whatever is safe in it and hope you dont get pulled up.

my hilux's rear weight from the tyre placard is 1750kg. so no the corona will not do, more than the coronas overall weight.

you probably already have but downundertruckin, subsided and similar websites would be more helpful to do with this sought of stuff.
