    Have a look at TurboRA28's members ride thread, there's pics of his bolt in RA28 half cage there. Joel also mentions that there was thick backing plates used at the points where the cage is bolted in - which makes complete sense.


    I myself am keen on the idea of a half cage for the 28 one day, and i like the product TurboRA28 has got from Bonds.... these old celica's are tough, but they flex more than an olympic gymnast
    ...... butt scratcher?!

    backing plates are usually 3mm steel and the same size or half the size of the cage foot plate.

    well the cage is ready now, got the call this arvo

    im pickin it up tomoz after noon, and see if i can get the missus to put up some pics of how it comes,

    im hoping to have the celica running tonight with the gt30!

    so depend if im flogging it around this wkend...i might get a chance to put the cage in...or atleast start...

    Back plates can be bolted through then welded to the floor as well. Spread load over a larger area than just the bolt holes where, if it's not clamped tight enough and it flexes as much as you say it'll tear through. Seen it happen in a hilux we preped for a wynns safari rally, ripped a section out of the floor (BTW was a bought cage) without seeing an accident.
