AHH K COOL, ive been told aswell if they send you a pre made cage, you have to trim it to size as they leave a lil extra just incase....
im not too happy thinking to have to hack my dash up.... cant wait to speak to them tho...
blake
From what I could get out of them if they've done one before then they can make and ship but I enquired about a JZA80, which I know they have done at least twice for IPRA and they're like.
"Uh, you'll need to bring it in, stripped out to the level than you want the cage fitted to"
Their prices are bare essestial no GST, freight etc, any extras or changes are extra.

it also includes the widscreen bar, and claims that i dont have to modify the dash,
also for the cams approval, you approve it yourself to get it logbooked...or something along thse lines he said....

Yeah when you do the paperwork for the logbook you will get the roll over protection form. A scrutineer will also do a preliminary check of the car & sign the log book when you get it.
Just a tip that some scrutineers like to check what material has been used to make the cage so its often not a good idea to paint the cage so he can read the markings.
Ive always made my own cages from bare tube so this might not apply to you as you might get a form from the manufacturer stating the cage specs.
blake - have you confirmed if these are able to pass both cams\andra tech inspection and be legally engineered for street use ?
cheers

Just do not make it a half cage, those things are deadly!!Originally Posted by Robbos_Toyotas

Care to elaborate on the half cage being deadly?Originally Posted by ChuckLandwehr
My understanding as far as rego was in line with what blake said above, i'm not interested in removing the front 2 points all the time, nor driving with a 6pt all the time (done this, no fun in a ke20, much head hitting is done when hit potholes), and i want it road legal.
With this in mind i'm seriously considering a 4pt half cage, i've already messed myself up once on a bike don't want to do it again..

its only really neccesary if you do a lot of hardcore track racing or its compulsory if your car runs quicker than a 10.99 1/4.Originally Posted by love ke70
the only real restrictions on cage for RTA is head space, and ease of access to vehicle..
from here
http://www.dotars.gov.au/transport/s...3Feb2 006.pdf
code LK8, startign on page 33
figure LK14, on page 35, shows the head space requirements.
they also specify minimum mounting methds and pipe sizes etc and stuff has to be padded..
it also says, registration authorities may approve a 6 point cage for cars with restricted road access or conditional registration (ie rally cars with restricted road driving permit )
but that a 6 point is not acceptable for NORMAL road use.. so there is scope to have one allowed for LIMITED road use...... b that doesn't mean you can drive car everyday...
