im i wrong in saying that they all are steel wheel .....
i'm planning to purchase one used CT26 turbo. the seller claim that its taken from a 7M-GTE. the exhaust housing has a single entry. how can i make sure that it is steel bladed exhaust wheel or its a ceramic type? any other methods to ensure that CT26 is a steel wheel turbine wheel?
im i wrong in saying that they all are steel wheel .....
but there are CT26 which is ceramic exhaust wheel right? please correct me if i m wrong.
or does it means the twin entry exhaust housing CT26 all are ceramic wheel where as the single entry CT26 is steel wheel?
well 7MGTE are all steel , and as far as i know the difference between 3s and 7M ct's are the size of the exhaust housing and the fact the 3s one is twin entry...
both are steel i think
I always thought they were all steel turbines, not that I took much notice of
prehistoric turbos (Garrett GT series FTW).
Easiest way to tell, take along a magnet.
CT26 from 3sgte twin entry was ceramic..
7mgte ct26 single entry was steel..
Hmm magnet... not sure? I tried that once on a steel turbine wheel and it didn't stick. Someone said the metals used in exhaust wheels are not magnetic.. But that may be gospel.
ct26 off deisel cruiser is ceramic i think but other than that identicle to supra ct26. don't quote me on that though. i know they aren't twin entry.

As above, if it's really a 7M turbo it will have a steel turbine. If you don't trust the seller though, the only way to be sure is to eyeball the turbo for yourself - it's pretty easy to spot the difference.

Only the JDM ones. All ADM and Group A ST185's were steel wheeled.Originally Posted by TurboRA28
confirmed that it has a steel wheel for that CT26A. now its in my garage.. thanks for the tips.. cheers...
magnet wont work, when they say steel wheel, its actually a steel composite. hence non magnetic.
youd be amazed how many people try sticking magnets to them.. me for one. lol.

Is that right....B Rad told me to do that with one i had, .I am sure now it was a steel wheel. But needed reconditioning, and may aswell high flow which came to near 2 grand...Jordan has it now actually....(alls good I got a steely now too).....
BTW, not all 7M CT26s are steel wheeled. When stitty had his rebuilt in order to clip the turbine blades they had to replace the ceramic wheel for a steel one
Project megap00 - Gave up and sold up. Money tree died
yeah, a cheap replacement for a busted 7m turb was to get a cruiser one which is ceramic wheeled. they are no different exept for the ceramic wheel, and if you are running stock boost will work as well.
