Thanks for the bump. Most people don't realise the problems trying to do mods on KE20/25 as they are different than ke30's, Celicas or later which just about anything will bolt in.
I am setting up a KE25 with 2TG, KE30 booster with jap master cyl. Have modified (with great trouble pedal assembly and are running Ta22 rear axle.
I did the same mod in a KE30 and it was so easy because it was almost made to fit.
KE20 and KE10 are not so easy to do brake upgrades, and the stub axle is small anyway.
at least KE20 has a decent (ie, 2 bolt) steering arm
if you want to keep the stock strut, then you can make brakes fit, using a disc over hub setup (like... camira...) and then custom caliper bracket etc for your favourite calipers..
but the reason no-one responds is that there is no easy option...
as said in other thread, nissan is a good option for both struts and brakes.
if you want to keep same LCA, why not change the ball joint? or fit KE30 steering arms to KE20 ball joints (iirc they might fit.. i dunno)
a bigger, stronger strut is a better basis anyway, and if you are lowering, will help you get a better bump/rebound ratio by choosing a shock with better dimensions...

I'm not going to repeat myself, i answered this in the other thread
If you look for posts of mine in the tech section, you'll find alot of them in the recent past are regarding use of r31 struts and suitable brake upgrades. Like i said, i'll do a writeup, but just waiting for coilovers to be fitted so that i can take pics of complete strut
ed: Search for ke20 or ke2x, you'll get more results than searching for ke25 alone, same shit

So that the info is here for other people who search and find this thread:

Thanks again. Will you be posting some pics. Also would like to know what coil over and off the shelf caliper mounts you used.
By the way I have looked through a heap of old tech posts on not only KE20/25 but celica.
I was thinking about using a set of AE71 panel van struts and adapt hilux 4 pots to them as they are the same as AE86 but the lower arm length is a problem. Look forward to seeing your setup. Rob.
I will indeed be posting pics, thats why i've not done the guide yet. Use whatever coilover kit you want, strut tube diameter is 51mm, so just get a threaded section to suit and have it welded on. I've not worked out spring length yet. I'll probably get my threaded bits from www.nexcentpp.com for $260, there are cheaper on ebay, but no point getting cheapshit.
Caliper adapter is sold by www.datsport.com at a cost of $185 the pair, comes with mounting bolts. You need to tap the caliper mount holes in the strut, and grind off a smidge off the caliper near the mounting tabs, it will then bolt together.
You then use an r32 disc and caliper (280 or 296mm, GTST or GTR respectively). You can use a z31 5 stud hub (as i have), z31 4 stud or s12 4 stud (all PCD 114.3). Note that the hub diameter is different between z31 and s12. Baz at datsport sells discs already modified to suit using the s12 hub, will cost you just as much to have them modified yourself (as i did, because i wanted 5 stud).
Alternatively, you can just use the R31 250mm disc and caliper setup as is.
You'll notice that your ke25 steering arm has locators over the bolts. The R31 strut does not accomodate this, so you will either need to remove the locators at the expense of some shear strength, or do as im doing and have the threads in the bottom of the strut drilled out a little to accomodate the locators, if not enough thread is left i'll run a nylock nut on top.
Seems like alot of people are asking this lately, i'll start sorting the writeup soon.

Heres a shot of the coilover kit seeing its not on their site, this is what your $260 buys you

And links here to the complete struts datsport sell, whether or not the spring height suits a ke2x as well as a 1600 i don't know, but they are bloody expensiveIt is this setup that i'm basing mine on..

You can use any AE86 front struts for the front and AE86 GTS rear disk or 80-81 Supra rear disk for your stock rearend.Originally Posted by rob20v

Heres shortstroke writeup. you can shorten them or leave stock and put coilovers.

Heres Race proven coilover kits ( your choice of spring rate )PRacing also has coilovers for the Rear. $175 USD for the front for Rear you would need to call Luis.

Care to elaborate further? The bolt pattern on a ke2x steering arm is narrower than an ae86, is this based on using a different lower control arm, steering arm, or both?Originally Posted by 71RA20

They have to be fitted onto AE86 steering arms.

hey im also looking at brake upgrades for ke20/25 and so far the most popular easy one
seems to be the ke70 brake/pcd swap and use commodore rear performance pads.
you can get the ke70 discs in slotted form off the shelf for about twice the price.
and change to nissan vanette? master cylinder (check club-k.com regard master cylinder).
but it seems a complete strut swap would be an easy brake upgrade but a difficult strut swap exercise overall and it will most likely change the front end geometry which im not too keen on.
corona xt130 struts have been fitted to ke30 and ta22 with minimal mods, a good strut with big discs and twin spot sumito calipers, as far as i know unsuitable for ke20 though.
audi disks and calipers have been mounted to ke20 13bt jet toy corolla.
seems mitsubishi magna early model disks will fit with small modification if any and then adapt a caliper to suit or use the mitsubishi one? or a commodore one?
one consideration is what pcd you want in the end too, i think most of these brake upgrades are based on the 110 to 114.3 conversion.
im going to go through all my old school fast fours and find any ke20/25's, then writeup the details of the brake conversions they have when i get some free time.
