Guys, what's the best way to check for proper ground?

Matty, I noticed that you'ld chopped some of the insulation away on a few harness and fuel wires, did you then tap into this with a test pen/multimeter?

I check the resistance between the ECU plug grounds and the engine block/chassis

yeah man i sliced a piece of insulation off to get a positive reading on the pump, then also used it to get a positive connection when i connected my own power to it. Just wrap a piece of tape over it once the car is running properly again.

If ignition is switched on then the TPS should give a reading when foot is on pedal, maybe that is giving a problem too. You could try using your 1zz one although it will probably be difficult to change with motor in the car, just like everything will be hehe.

Yeah, I'll chuck a test pen on it, and see what lights up.

With a car hoist, i can have the engine out in 45 minutes. Maybe i should take it out again since I gotta do the alternator *hint hint matty hint*.

Problem is Aussie spec 1ZZ ECU won't give readings to the OBD sensor.

    ECU ground plugs...hmmm..there's 4, I'll see what's the deal.

    Thanks guys!

Matty, forgot to ask, before you swapped the TPS sensor wires, did you managed to get fuel or spark? Or was there nothing altogether? just seems weird for the ECU to have no fuel or spark just because it's getting WOT readings on teh throttle.

Wanna come to perth? I'll drive over and pick you up.

I'm betting it's the ECU too. it looks/feels/sounds like an immobiliser. Picking up powerFC on wednesday night, so wish me luck!

id forget bout the tps for the moment

on the scanner do u get cran k signals in
    and
    injecter duty output
    and spark timing

tps should not stop it from starting unless its at 100% so just unplug it and leave it along
your looking at the wrong fuking things

Lady luck shines down on Tiang.

It was the ECU immobiliser, and the PowerFC fixed her right up. Now gotta spend more money on a tune.

Thanks for all the help everyone!
