i want a live axle one.

    it could go 2 ways.

i have alot of hot hachi parts having just sold my 86 parted out. and i also have access to an aa63 (carina) x member, so could be 4a powered.

im looking at it like i always have a passenger with me at the track anyway, so if i just dont take them performance will be the same? haha.

i dont really car its all right there and can all be taken out again, at worst id loose my time (not good for much else anyway), $300 bux for the car itself and id have a tailshaft id need shortended at one end..

that or 3sgte. gen 2. i can do that as cheap as anyone.. but still.. its $$. there are $$ to be re couped in the 4a specific parts i have but still there will be a differance of atleast $1500. and id like to bank some of the money from the sale of the 86 or atleast "invest" it in something plasuable.

you think the x member will fit? also do you think an ra60 t series one will?

are all the live alxe ones borgwarner? and the manual ones are all borg trannys too?

    AA63 cross member should fit
S motored ones have borg manuals, Rs have jap 5 speeds
RA60 live axle should bolt in.
RA60 front struts bolt in, giving you vented 10 inch disk

Makes me wanna do more with the wagon now.

i would'nt even bother with a 4a in a rona it would be gutless if any thing a 3s would be the goer

there was at some stage a jap model at14x which had a 4a if i were to do it all again i would drop a 3tgte and boost it thats the best bang for buck

that or buy a pre built one

yeah it would be a 20v, not just a big port or something. i dont really care if its gutless, so are 86s. i have the shit and the base care is worth nothing. itd run a 4.6 in the t series ra60axle, i dont see how it would be too gutless, the weights listed above make it no heavier than an ae92 or 101, with short gears and after market management (and striped to the bone) i dont see how that cant add up. 1070 - the differance in the weight in the engine and gearbox, plus the stripping. itd go ok. Xe7X corolla's just dont seem to be around, not any cheaper anyway. the one thing i am doing with the money i have is buying some brand new wheels. if im buying brand new i might aswell get something massive as size doesnt really affect the purchase price much, but it does the retail.

15x9 work miesters probably. they wont really fit on a 70, but theyll fit a corona, or an mz11, or an 86.

p.s ive got a mate with a ta63 carina he might sell. its half way through a sr conversion.

pm me about that if you like.

my car weighed in at work ( i work for a fairly large transport mob) i had a set of wheels and my full tool collection and near a full tank of fuel and it wieghted in at 1070kgs i've striped it bear bar the front seats and carpet

trust me i daily drive and silde my rona it needs about 200-250hp and it'll be a good base. if i were you i would chuck a 7age the added torque would help in a big way in the t14 chassis

i've got 4.11 rear end with a 4 speed borgie = short as it peaks at 140k's with around 100-120hp and your left with your foot to the boards wanting more power meh thats just my opinion

oh i like the idea of 15x9inch wheels i've got like 15x7inch works rims on the front now and the guards need to be flared heavily to clear

although i do like your idea

    you have pm

1g and irs are not my style at all, sorry. we've been developing tims car for ages and the 1g has done nothing but let us down. im sure they can be made to work as others on here have proven but im just not into 6s. that and theyre just not around in qld like they are down south, imports up here just dont get them, and theyre not cheap, especially manual ones.

i can probably do a 3s just as cheaply. i say probably only because i cant really guess the price of the 1g set up that easy, but im looking at like 3k tops to do a 3s.

motors are about the same price. bell is probably cheaper and easier for a 3s. can get a billet flywheel with the spigot in it (direct copy of a sxe10 one) with a good sprung 5 puck for about $750. box is the same. alot of the fab work will be close to free. ill just cut the firewall for the dizzy.

According to my rego papers my rona weighs 1060 (tare weight), ST141 CS Wagon Auto, so a 4a shouldnt be to bad in it and if it is you could always throw on a turbo or s/c
Wouldnt mind doing that conversion myself, couldnt be any worse then the 2s.

    Cheers
