i just did some research, this is partially related to vehicle mass.

if i'm reading correctly, you can legally put a 1UZFE into an RT without problems (apart from the usual problems of course)

could turbo it if you wanted to as well

mind you, i shouldnt be thinking about this, the whole point of a daily is to leave it the hell alone

yeah, well the sale on my car fell through, but i still grabbed that AA63 x member anyway

had some time to kill today so i went to the wreckers to grab some other parts, and while i was there had another bit of a look over a few.. found out there are some versions that are 22r (injected) and live axle.. which i think is a cool combo..

maybe we should colate some data as i expect theres not much around on particular versions.

    i always thought it went

st141. 2s, borg box, borg diff (live)
rt141 as above but with 21rc?

    st142 2s borg box and irs (f?)
    rt142 22re, w box? and irs

post if you can exact specifics and the build code it had. also include 1 version of head lights too if possible.

    I can only recall seeing:

ST141 2SC, available with borg warner 4 or 5 speed, with borg warner
RT142 22RE, Toyota W5x 5sp (although the build plate doesn't seem to state the code), borg warner live axle
RT142 22RE, Toyota W5x 5sp (although the build plate doesn't seem to state the code), Toyota F-series IRS

As far as autos go the RT142s were available with the 3sp+Overdrive and the ST141 I'm not sure about... but I can safely say that an automatic 2S Corona would be the most unexciting car in history.

I've never seen an RT141 or ST142, perhaps available internationally but certainly not on the domestic market.

From what I've seen the IRS is more common in the later models (eg. '86 rather than '84) and also more common in the up-spec Avante.

you can legally put a 1UZFE into an RT without problems
I'm not sure if it's still done the same, but a few years back when I was playing with engine conversions they based the calculation off the base model sedan (or closest equivalent - eg wagon if there was no sedan variant) with the heaviest engine & driveline combination available from factory... which means you're at the mercy of that weight rather than the weight of your actual car.

In the case of the RT142 would be the CSi (base model 22R) with the auto (heavier than manual) and probably the IRS rear end (I assume heavier than live axle). I'd consult an engineer in advance before spending any real money on the idea, but you should be right.

Either that or just use a 13BT which you'll piss in!

    never went ahead with it.

still in the back of my mind.

would probably do st141 w/gen1 3sge>w5x>ra60shaft>ra60 T diff with lsd.

kinda of an over size 4age ke70..

only "problem" is you need "oversized" rims to make them look good. like 8.5j at the very least.
