can he space it out?
if you can adapt the FWD one, dont run an engine fan off it whatever you do!
Hey all,
My mate today bought a waterpump to suit a fwd bigport motor and found the offset was wrong. I've tried searching, but I need to be sure, is there a waterpump available to suit the rwd motor? I read you can use a 4a-c one, but does this require modification?
Cheers,
James

i thought about that too. But alas we are running the stock clutch fan, with no intention of changing it.
if you use a pump driven fan on a FWD water pump, the bearings will fail.
i have a 4AC one you can try out if you like, and a thermo fan you can have for 20 bucks that served me well in the past (needs to be mounted a bit funny, but still works fine)
the hubs is just a press fit on the shaft.. so if you get one with the different offset, you could probably get a mechanic/engineer with a press to press it to the right offset.
otherwise id be trying a speed shop in japan/USA.. they should have em in stock, hopefully postage wouldnt be too much.
I've bought a couple of RWD water pumps from Toyota, they don't usually have too much trouble getting them in. Only about $110 or so.
Do these work on a ae101 ze?
try your local parts store
i bought a 4ac one (using it on a rwd smallport). the brand is powermaxx, made in japan and comes with 2 years warranty w/ unlimited mileage. it only cost me 47 bucks.
Yes but apparently the fins on the back of athe 4ac ones are too long? correct me if im wrong
powermaxx and most other water pumps generally use a one piece fits all style impellor, so it may well fit on a 4age..
this is the exact reason why hemi 6 chryslers tend to overheat with aftermarket pumps.
if your worried you could get the impellor off your old pump and pressed onto a powermaxx pump or similar
sorry to dig up an old thread, but i had to replace the waterpump on my rwd 4age tonight.. did a bit of websurfing and found a few sites that said 4ac pumps fit. so i trundled off to the store and got me a 4ac pump, and found the friggen thing doesnt fit.
it fouls on the rear timing belt cover.. its also different on the raised section that seals the front timing cover. ill be modiying mine tomorrow at work and ill take some pictures to post up.
