The pipe cutter is nice - if you have one OR you can get one!
I agree with 1JZ Racing's method - this is how I cut every pipe (I like hacksaws - easy to split a scribe line). You can simply slide the paper/plastic or whatever out of the way and then slide it back to check the cut after it is done - if you went gumby with your hack saw, just neaten the end off with the linisher.
I would back myself to have the job done before you finished trying to borrow a pipe cutter, ringing a machine shop, going anywhere or deciding which drop saw best fits your needs as the tools that are needed are usually right at hand.
