    Default 1UZ injector question

I read that the 7mge NA injectors are an upgrade for the 1UZ engine since they are rated at a higher output. Ithink it was 315cc/min for the 7M versus 255cc/min for the 1UZ.

My question is why? Both engines are about 500cc per cylinder. Why would the 7M need bigger injectors from the factory??

it may not have 'needed' them, it was probably for performance. Remember, the 1uz out of the factory was a slug, a slug with tons of potential though!

'upgrade' ?? as in just 'plug them in' ? lol... the engine will drown in fuel

and the 7mge injectors are only 295 at the rail pressure that the 1uz are rated at.

and perhaps different factory rev range...

smaller injectors can be used at lower rpm, because there is more time available to inject.

7M has a 'performance' wide valve angle 'G' head, 1UZ has an 'economy' narrow valve angle 'F' head. The 'G' head has greater flow potential, so needs larger injectors.

ok, the standard 1uz injectors are 251cc's. yellow 7mge (early) are 295cc's and light green 7mge are 315cc's. these are a direct plug and play upgrade for the 1uz. i will be using the light greens with my turbo 1uz (low boost)

yes they are a direct plug in fit but without some sort of fuel management the engine will drown as per eds statement above

You can't just compare injectors based on cc/min at a specifed rail pressure....well we can but manufacturers can't. We can as generally speaking we aren't too worried about emissions and perfectly smooth driveability.

Spray pattern, fuel pressure, injector duty, open time, impedence, solenoide type etc etc are all factors considered and makes for quite a complex matrix. Throw in an available parts bin a bean counter can scab from and what injector appears in what engine isn't worth worrying about, other than which ones might be suitable for our needs as an upgrade.

the numbers are different because the test rail pressures are different. those two injectors flow the same

Millsi, why dont you use the 440cc/min injectors from the 7MGTE?

Sort of offtopic, but thanks to kingmick for neg repping me for my previous post, with the following comment:

"ive read some crap on toymods, but that just about takes the cake! i take it you know nothing at all about engines and the 1uz!"

I wonder which point he objected to.

If its the G versus F code thing then I would have to agree with JASPER.

So what degree are the valve angles at? and what is the current race v8 angle at?
