Default Swapping W58 for R154, whats involved?

Ok so another chapter in the 7M-GTE swap Im helping a mate with is fitting his gearbox and getting the clutch working.

So far the box is all bolted in and the tailshaft is linked up, now we've gotta work out how to get the pull type clutch working with the old W58 system.

There is a braided line on the R154 that needs to be linked up to the slave cylinder, but the fittings are different. Now this seems like a job for Enzed/Pirtek/wateva.....but it is just as simple as hooking the hoses up? I was under the impression that the two systems were quite different??

Any advice is very much appreciated!!

Just get a hose with the right fittings (either custom or OEM) and hook it up. The hydraulics work the same.

I believe the master cylinders are the same bore so you shouldn't have any problems - just link up the line, bleed it properly and everyone's happy. I would check the pedal adjustment though just to make sure it's engaging and disengaging 100%.

If you're in Brisbane I've found Slacks Creek Brake & Clutch to be incredibly helpful over the years - for recoing master & slave cylinders, new lines, etc. They can also modify/resleeve cylinders for larger bore if you desire.

Thanks for the help fellas! (I actually wrote a responce to this yesterday but my net dropped out half way through ) +rep for you both, except Norbs has to wait cos I repped him yesterday.

Anyways, after posting this I realised that everything I need is still in his halfcut anyway...duh!

Will keep the Slacks Creek mob in mind. Ive got a brake upgrade coming up on my car too.
