Converting 7M-GE to GTE...not starting PLS HELP!

Hey all,

Im giving a mate of mine a hand to get his 7M-GTE(turbo A motor) working in his MA70 which was originally NA. Sounds like the easiest job in the world I know but we having a bit of a headache getting it started.

Im convinced its a wiring problem but all suggestions are appreciated.

So far:
Engine is in
Cooler piped up
Tailshaft is linked up
Battery/altenator/starter is wired up
Fuel is plumbed up
Wired up BAT and IGN on ECU

Yet to be done:
Exhaust to be done
Oil cooler/FMIC to be mounted properly (temp fix atm)

Problem:
Cranks over but no spark

Thinking atm (but cant check till weekend):
ECU needs to be earthed somewhere??

Hoping for some input from some of the resident 7M nutters as Im sure theres lots of you who have done this conversion before!!

BTW: This is that stupidly powerfull Trust T78-33D engine that Import Bitz had. Should go very nicely indeed!

Have you got the earth straps for the engine on...?

Is the ignitor body grounded? (not sure if it has to be on 7M)

Does the ECU throw any codes? You have to crank for over 15secs to get some codes...

Might want to add the info that it is a Turbo A engine...

edit: Ah I was there when it was getting picked up

Havent actually thought to check the earth straps but the owner seems pretty switched on, I guess I assumed he already did them. Will check though.

Ignitor earth is on my list of things to check already (nice tip though)

There is a number of pins on the ECU which needs to be earthed mate.

Most of which earth via the engine loom -> inlet manifold and subsequent ground straps...

Yep thats what I thought. The engine loom is almost entirely connected but I still needed to splice BAT and IGN into the loom for some reason (makes no sense to me why it wasnt just connected).........I didnt think to check earth at the time but hopefully that makes for an easy fix now.

might want to check these as well...

+B, +B1 (switched via relay controlled by M-REL output on ECU)
STA (crank signal to ECU, should still start without this tho...)
