    Default Semi-Sealed beam replacments, #A2# celica's

    I've searched the forums on this but not sure if anyone has an thoughts on whats the best buy? bang for buck wise. Also where's a good retailer to buy them from in Melbourne?
    Also on the same note, where to buy 100 or 150w driving lights?

    My last question to anyone who might know. Would there be any benifit adding a pair of wide or narrow angle 100w driving lights to a set up which included standard, h4 55w high beams and 150w pencil beam driving lights?

    Thanks,
    nick.

    Hella make nice lenses.
    Cibie do too, but less likely to find them on ebay/cheap.

    what lights depend on what driving. how much of the road do you need to see? long flat straight roads or cury ones?

    INO5NT, i know I saw the thread about 2 days late! haha I was about to jump on them.

    I mainly drive the local hills so mostly twisties I guess, although I do still have the long straits too but not as much of a concern I guess.

    Hella = good
    Narva = decent
    Wagner = cheap (thats what ive got)

    You can get these from ANY decent auto-parts place; Repco, Autobarn, etc.

    I have 4 x semi-seal HI-LO beams on my RA28, with 55/60W H4 globes... this is more than enough light for both city and highway driving.

    I would like the narva or hella but I was quoted $140 for the narva and $165 for the hella hi/low beam replacments, and $160 for the hella 100w high beam replacment.

    Where did you get the wagner lights from? I may fork out heavily for one or the other and just go cheap on the other.

    i got them from autobarn

    they are junk though - the globes arent even seated at the same angle in each lens housing.... but at $25 per lens, i can deal with it.

    Yeah when replacing quads on the front with something expensive like hella's ... It makes you brake just that bit earlier during the day, but it's well worth it after dark ...

    mine has Bosch H4 with 55/75W inserts [used to have 90/130W but went with the ice blue ones now], with 150W sealed H1 + 2* Hella Ralleye 4000 [one spot one wide] 150W.
    having spent a lot of time in QLD, NT and WA I believe in good lights. to run it all is a 110A alternator and a quality battery.

    the bosch cost me $110 in 1988 and i get 150W acft landers at about $15 each and picked up the Hellas for $350 just recently.

    I got the NARVA ones in mine, best bang for bucks IMO.

    No matter what you have to do the conversion it makes a massive difference over the stock lights.

    hella lenses sometimes come up cheap on ebay etc... sometimes less than $50 a lense .... if you are prepared to wait.

    someone said the angle split between high and low on the hellas is too big... and i would tend to agree for the ones i got... and they also said the cibies are close in angle, but i can't say that for sure as i haven't tested.... but the cibies look nice

    blue globes suck.

    "lets put a blue SHADE over the globe to BLOCK OUT light to make it look whiter" duh..

    get some plus50 or plus60 globes...no blue tint... legal AND brighter

    for curvy roads, you want light spread... wtf would you want a pencil beam for if you only need to see 40m ahead?
