Make your title a bit more relevant to the content of the thread mate, imagine what this forum would be like if everyone had the same idea as you?

I assume the only logical way to check this without the motor running is to remove / inspect the cam, and remove intake / exhaust from head and have a look...

i'd suggest measuring the height of a lobe then comparing that to a cam at the wreckers.

I'm taking the rocker-cover off mine sometime this week so i'll take note of what my cam has stamped on it - but i can't measure lift unless someone loans me a dial guage.

also: does the seller have receipts for any of this work? is rather an unusual engine to spend money/time porting (as i know from personal experience).

re: porting, you could remove the intake manifold and see if they've matched the port shapes to the manifold inlets and whether the gaskethas any overlap protruding into the air flow. If they haven't done any work to mate those two up then is unlikely any other porting work was done.

just don't try to do what i did without being prepared to waste buckets of cash and time - 18RG or something more modern (2T, 3T, 3S, 1G, ...) and sensible would have been a better engine.

all he told me that he brought of some guy who was racing it in a datsun it was runnin duel side draught carbs and he said it sounded pretty lumpy he also said he was gonna put it im his van but he realised he didnt no how to it . it kinda looks big on the end of the inlet but its not all the way through and exhaust looks normal

Running rich does not equal lumpy cams.

Best way is to pull rocker cover off, and run a dial indicator over the cam. Compare that profile to a standard cam. As for porting only way is to actually have a look, which means pulling off the intake/exhaust manifolds. As for the efficacy of the work well, the only way is to put it on a flow bench and compare that to a standard head. I suspect that the standard ports are probably big enough to flow more hp than you could realistically make with an 18RC in NA form (just a hunch of course - no facts to back that up).

stock ports flow 11 psi of boost pretty easily (and under 4k rpm too)
