I would love to see an ae82 with a rear wheel drive setup. But i guess you call that a spoontah???
Have you seen backyarders ae82?
20v turbo, slicks = 10's
3sgte, slicks = 10's and maybe lower.
Either way lots of cash which could get you alot of things.
yes it would i just dont want to throw thousands into a engine that every one knows how they go
i want to be diffrent
i miss my ta22
um.. ok.
the 2ZZ has the intake at the front and the exhaust at the back doesnt it? I doubt the AE82 has the clearance for that.
Isn't the fastest AE82 in oz running 10 second quarters? I remember reading about it in zoom, its a backyarder with the screamer pipe coming up through the bonnet.
yes it dose. but i want to keep road registerd
Good to see that you do not need to change the x member, I just thought with how close the ember is on a AE82 to the gearbox / sandwich plate thing that it may interfere if this motor sits lower / wider etc..Originally Posted by BeRad
Wiring will be a few hours with a soldering iron and diagrams..
Exhaust should be a while with the welder.
If you are serious about getting this done these things should not stop you and are common to most conversions.
Good luck, I hope it gets done!
Getting it registered would be the hard part possibly... Wack some 4a cam covers on it (jokes)
Ed where are you please make the hurting stop.Originally Posted by upz669

Seriously this is some honest advice, go away and do some research and then ask some questions, have you even thought how you mount an engine in the rear of an AE82.
You have some great ideas/dreams but they are simply that, the ecu you plan to run won't control the engine.
How much money do you have a 2zzge into anything is a big project. You are looking at $4k+ for the engine alone, more then likely a decent Ecu (another $2k for the unit plus wiring and tuning fund) then you have a fuel system, suspension, brakes, etc etc etc.
If you don't have $20-30K to pay with I wouldn't even bother because by the sounds of things you are going to be paying alot of cash out for people to do it for you. Mates are great but they are often unreliable when it comes to getting things done in your time frame.
At the end of the day being original whilst great isn't going to mean alot. Yep you'll have a 2zzge AE82, it might be worth $10k if your lucky, and you've just thrown alot of money down the drain.
Theres a place for originalanility and a place for well common sense. If you want a quick AE82 just buy a 4agze and get a decent turbo setup. Work the suspension and brakes and have a ball.
If in doubt power out
i have reserched putting a engine in the rear and its not that difficult i have seen it done.
and as for price i plan on spending more then 30k to get what i want
the ecu i have was out of my ta22 so its just sitting here.
the only thing i didnt reserch was the 2ZZ and thats because it was a spure of the moment thing and i get a discount on all engines and anything to do with mechanical.
for eg i can get 20v with wiring and ecu for 900.
This thread is going nowhere fast.... the below model shows what this thread is doing to the content of these forums.
1. A microtech LT8 doesnt have a hope in hell of running a 2ZZ-GE.
2. A RWD street legal AE82?
3. $900 for a 20V with loom and ECU isnt cheap
